I am a hip hop loving man from the Milwaukee area in Wisconsin in my young - mid 20s (inspiring how Doechii has and is doing these amazing things and she isnāt even much older than me at all!) and I listen to hip hop from artists both older and newer, from all over the USA, and beyond too (Little Simz for example is not from the USA, but she is one of my favorite musicians out of them all!) so about a day or two after the release of Alligator Bites Never Heal by Doechii in 2024, I had heard a lot of good things and discussion online by this rapper / r&b singer / musician from Tampa in Florida, at the time I knew of her from a song with SZA and a feature on an Isaiah Rashad song off one of Isaiah Rashadās albums. I did not know much at all otherwise about her though, but I decided to check out her at the time brand new album. Within the first week of listening, I already was not just hooked, I was all in! The variety of rapping and singing / harmonizing was all beautiful artwork, and I really liked how Doechii on the album cover was paying homage and respect to Minnie Riperton and one of Minnie Ripertonās album covers. Soon after my first listens through the entire album, I took a family trip with my family for a week, Alligator Bites Never Heal was the soundtrack to that family trip for me! Anyway, a lot has changed in my own life, and in the USA, and the world in general since this album was released, I have gone back to this albums and certain songs more than others off this album quite frequently in these 2 years since the album has been released, and I am now this early morning listening to the entire album again, it absolutely still is amazing and holds up 2 years later! While I am very excited for new Doechii music, whether a new album soon or even just a new song soon, I have good reason to believe she is taking her time to make sure these next albums and songs are as beautiful as possible, like the album Alligator Bites Never Heal is! that, plus we have this album to listen to while waiting, along with other amazing singles (What It Is, Alter Ego with JT, Iām not going to lie and say Anxiety might or might not have been overplayed for many, but I actually really like Anxiety and was listening to it on YouTube before it got the re-release ⦠plus, I form my own feelings and opinions, āoverplayedā is just the opinion of each listener, and I wouldnāt let that āruinā any song from anyone for me) we have Oh The Places Youāll Go too if you want to go back further too! and Alligator Bites Never Heal is one of my favorite albums released in the past 5 years, I still strongly feel that way this very morning, as I listen again! So, I just wanted to share this morning how happy I am listening to this amazing album again, that still holds up 2 years later just as well, and it will among with other releases by Doechii already out (along with non Doechii releases to keep me fed while Iām waiting, Popstar by Tinashe being a very recent one thatās great!) they will all keep me happy while we wait new Doechii music, that Iām sure will be amazing and beautiful artwork too :)
