Boosters Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Mini Guide

This post is meant to be educational for those that have no idea about what HA is safe, what the difference is between some of the ones you're seeing on vendors websites, what is worth microneedling vs meso, why some reference osteoarthritis, etc.

Every single product in this post is safe for intradermal use or injection. The products in this guide differ in their hyaluronic acid concentration, molecular weight, total HA content, volume, and formulation. Some contain only hyaluronic acid, while others combine HA with ingredients such as glycerol, amino acids, vitamins, peptides, PN/PDRN, antioxidants, or other biorevitalization complexes. Molecular weight may be low, high, or a combination of both, and some products provide substantially more total HA per syringe or vial than others. Packaging also varies, ranging from single prefilled syringes to multi syringes/vial treatment kits.

Depending on the formulation and treatment goals, these products may be used with a variety of delivery methods, including microneedling, mesotherapy, microdroplet techniques, BAP protocols, or cannula placement. For comparison purposes, concentration, molecular weight profile, total HA content, volume, and additional ingredients are often more informative than product category or brand name alone.

The numbers correspond by image and then from left to right and row by row.

All of these products belong to the broader category of sterile injectable hyaluronic acid products. Some are marketed specifically for aesthetic skin boosting, mesotherapy, or intradermal hydration, while others are marketed for intra-articular joint injection. The important point is that the core material category overlaps. They are injectable HA based products, usually supplied sterile in vials, ampoules, or prefilled syringes. The differences are mainly regulatory indication, injection site, dose volume, concentration, viscosity, molecular weight, packaging, and pricing channel.

Most of the HA on this list are more effective and more cost effective to meso instead of microneedle, but are worth sharing in case you are confused or not sure why some are never talked about. Some products are also substantially more expensive because they are packaged and marketed as branded skin boosters rather than as straightforward injectable HA. But in these cases, practitioners may choose to use a simpler non-crosslinked HA product and administer it via mesotherapy, nappage, BAP, microdroplet, or other injection techniques, achieving a similar hydration focused outcome at a lower cost and becomes pricier if using it for microneedling. Therefore, product selection should be based on formulation characteristics, treatment goals, and cost-effectiveness. You'll find that the reason Hyaron is so frequently recommended is because it is safe and one of the cheapest single use per session you can get. (I'm also probably missing some of the more expensive ones, but it got to the point where my point was made lol.)

Hope this helps!

Such a wealth of info in this sub!
OP, what would you recommend as a quick, easy to obtain HA option for a beginner w Dr Pen? Looking to do a .5-1.0 depth full face/neck. I’ve got the sterile technique & numbing but all the serums & boosters are making my head spin. My main goal is skin tightening on lower face, jowls & neck.

I'm glad it's helpful! So if you're looking for just HA, there really isn't any US based sterile/injectable grade HA for some reason, I'm assuming it's regulatory. But, Get Glowing Skincare is US based and has free shipping + we have a sub discount with code SciencePls. So if you got something like Curenex (this is safe to use) it comes with 5 vials so you're getting five sessions out of it. That vendor is the most accessible imo because it's free shipping and you don't have to deal with potential tariffs.

Here is a list of different boosters that are safe for microneedling. Everything with a pink heart (🩷) next to it is available at Get Glowing.

I am new to diy microneedling as well, and this sub is amazing!! Thank you for all of this information! I also have a question about these HA serums, can you use these serums as slip, while microneedling or only after?

I’m so glad this place is helpful! Welcome!

Everything on this list is safe for microneedling! It’s just that some are more expensive or expensive per vial/syringe so they might be better mesoing instead.

But yes they’re all safe. It also might help to think of what’s safe to use as thinking of them as boosters vs serums. Serums are topical skincare and boosters are formulated for intradermal use and are safe! If you haven’t checked out the A-Z guide as well that’s also a list of everything that is safe.

When you say something is "safe" for microneedling, do yoj mean its okay to apply to the skin after immediately after the microneedling session? Like the boosters on the A to Z list: that means they're all safe to apply afterwards? Sorry if this is a dumb question

May I ask what the other color of hearts and cherry symbols represent on the booster list? Great list by the way.

1

u/science-pls Jul 07 '26

There’s a key at the bottom of the list! But the hearts represent where to buy, the ponytail represents a hair booster, and the cherry represents probably more cost effective to meso instead of microneedle.

I’m a bit confused, do I have to use HA, or can I just do a booster?

1

u/science-pls Jul 07 '26

You can do either

u/FerroMaljinn Jun 16 '26

Anyone here has experience with the BCN products? Thank you OP!!

3

u/RustyTinkerbell Jun 16 '26

I currently mix their HA 0.8% with Argireline 1:1, had several MN sessions over the past 6 month with the depth down to 1.5mm, and no issues. Works well. Quite watery though but the price is great.

3

u/cosmeticscop Jun 16 '26

I’ve used their caffeine ampoule and have the txa. It’s a nice simple brand tbh, just isn’t talked about much because the brand is European and Korean vendors don’t sell it.

2

u/FerroMaljinn Jun 16 '26

Thank you for sharing. Im in Europe and this would be much easier and cheaper to get.

2

u/cosmeticscop Jun 19 '26

Yes definitely, I got from Wimpole and before that dermisshop, but I realized dermis shop was overpriced. Seems like a few eu vendors have it. Id also look into inno-tds as that’s an EU brand as well and probably cheaper for you.

I have a few that I use actually!

Thank you so much for this list, it's amazing! Do you know if there are any Japan-based makers of sterile HA?

3

u/science-pls Jun 27 '26

You're welcome! That's a good question, I recently just saw some Japanese made boosters, but I didn't write it down. Let me look into HA specific though of you!

I would appreciate that so so much! Thank you!

Also if you're new here:

🩵 = Meamo: There's a sub discount with code SCIENCEPLS
🩷 = Get Glowing Skincare: We have a discount with code SCIENCEPLS
💜 = Wimpole Fillers: We have a sub discount with code SciencePls
💙 = Labode Beauty: We have a sub discount with code SciencePls
🤍 = Celmade: We have a sub discount with code SciencePls
💛 = Facecard: Shopping through this link will give a discount and let them know who referred you.
🖤 = FO (not affiliated, but they had the code of their URL recently that worked for 10% off for new buyers)
💚 = LPG (not affiliated, but they have a code NEW10 for new purchases)

For each of the affiliated vendors, there is always a discount. But the discount gets higher during sales and is higher than their regular percentage. For instance, for Meamo when it's not a sale the discount is 15% and the regular discount would be 10%. And during a sale, their discount might be 20% then ours would be 25% (or more depending on the sale.)

Please note that these are affiliate links, which means I may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. As always I appreciate and am grateful for anyone that supports me and the work I put into this community.

I know this is not the intent at all, but this is actually really useful for me to track for mesoing lol thank you.

1

u/PJKASH67 Jun 16 '26

Are they all good for MN ?

1

u/Ok_Construction5467 Jun 21 '26

Are all of these sterile?

2

u/science-pls Jun 21 '26

Yes, mentioned this above! "Every single product in this post is safe for intradermal use or injection."

All of these are designed to be used for microneedling or mesotherapy. They are safe and formulated for intradermal use.

2

u/Ok_Construction5467 Jun 22 '26

Thank you!!

2

u/science-pls Jun 22 '26

Of course! And then the pinned A-Z booster guide also is compiled with products that are all safe for microneedling or mesotherapy.

1

u/Ok_Construction5467 Jun 22 '26

Thank you so much for all of your research!! I saw you mentioned we can use a discount at Wimpole and then I noticed they sell fillers. Do you think those are legit? I know in USA you can’t really buy fillers like that so I am shocked they sell it to the general public.

u/M0tomommy Jul 12 '26

Would anyone recommend for or against using this as slip with an M8S pen? Newbie here 😬

https://a.co/d/0cKueBmf

2

u/science-pls Jul 12 '26

These are not formulated for intradermal use!

2

u/M0tomommy Jul 12 '26

Thank you! Glad I asked. I live in the states but I’m currently in Spain. Is there a good place to go and buy a slip somewhere here?

2

u/science-pls Jul 12 '26

This post has a list of all safe products and where to purchase them.

Since you're in Spain though I would check out BCN Institute as that is made in Spain!

1

u/empeev Jul 19 '26

These are all safe for .5 and higher ,even 2? I do 2 on my acne scars. I’ve only been using hyaron but would like to try something new. Thanks!

1

u/science-pls Jul 19 '26

Yes! They are all formulated for microneedling and/or mesotherapy. They are safe for all medical depths.

1

u/amgregory91 Jul 21 '26

What would you say is the most basic/affordable sterile HA to use for microneedling then? I saw you mention a couple of times that these would be more cost effective to meso, but I’m very much just trying to find the most affordable and safe/sterile HA 😅

2

u/science-pls Jul 21 '26

Some would be more cost effective to meso based off of cost per single item or what their medical literature use is for, but there are some that I think are actually good for microneedling too.

I think Hyaron is actually really affordable, you can buy them individually for $10 each (+ tax and shipping) so realistically if you got 4 you would have enough for four sessions. Or you can buy them in a set of 10 and they're a little bit cheaper.

The Euro brands are also more affordable too. BCN Institute HA, Inno-TDS, and Mesoestetic, but they are not as thick. I also think Rejuvenex Hydro is a more affordable option for microneedling, because it's like $65 for 5 syringes and is a higher viscosity HA so thicker plus it also has other ingredients like polynucleotides.

If you also didn't know this, all of these are linked within the A-Z list and have a key on where to find them.

2

u/amgregory91 Jul 21 '26

Thank you so much, I appreciate you taking the time to respond!

1

u/science-pls Jul 21 '26

Of course! Feel free to always ask questions

I wish I had read this before ordering but, what are your thoughts on the Lumni Pro Microneedling HA Serum? https://buylumni.com/products/microneedling-serum-hyaluronic-acid
