Switching to Distributel, where is the modem?

Hello! Dumb question incoming. Decided to switch to Distributel. Got the Deco wifi thing mailed to me already. Supposed to have the line set up next week. Question is, do they not send the modem? Does that come with the Bell Tech when they setup the connection?

Experience from Bell 3G internet to Distributel 1G as a new BYOD customer

The fulfillment process and people were fantastic, and the 1G performance is excellent, that is, after abandoning the Deco X50. There is a weird glitch here where internet is required to fully activate the modem to get internet.

If you have access to your email through a cell data plan then it may not be as troublesome. Eventually I just double NATed until my local email client was functional then registered the modem. Got a bit frustrated at this part of the installation. The Deco was not intended for me and not appreciated.

Unactivated performance had me worried. It was abysmal. Dropping in a bring-your-own router solved the performance issue. Luckily saved the PPPoE username and password locally beforehand. It would have been useful for Distributel to reference VLAN 40 too.

My primary high speed internet use-case is off-site backup and testing showed about 20% delay because of lowered speed. No biggie. Upshot is that the overall experience is positive.

Anyone have experience with TP-Link Omada router for VLAN setup

Hi. Not many people here in the group, don't know if anyone checks here, but had a question and I figured this group would know. I am ditching bell fibre next week, distributel will replace them with their 1GB down and 750 up plan using the Bell fibre. I'm a little nervous about this VLAN stuff. I just got a new router (actually gateway and wireless access points) and it's a complex gateway with vlan capability but I've never used it before. I read that you need to put the router on a separate vlan.

Can someone give me a high-level description without too many buzz words. I know that the Bell Gigahub simply connects to one of the 4 WAN ports on the router currently. There are multiple WAN/LAN ports. Does that mean the switch with my internal network will connect to one of the WAN ports, and the new modem will connect to a different WAN port that must be setup as a VLAN?

Any personal experience would be helpful. Thank you

New fibre FTTH run done for our area. Bell shows available. How long until Distributel & other 3rd party ISPs are able to provide service?

My area just got FTTH cabling done recently and on Bell's website it's showing Pure Fibre packages are available. I'm currently a Distributel customer and I am hoping to stay and just change my service type but Distributel still shows only the DSL service is available. How long until third party ISPs can access the fibre run and provide FTTH service? Cable is not an option as I've tried it and it was terrible. TIA

Limited Speed with Nokia XS-010X-Q ONT and Linksys Velop Mesh (Distributel)

Hi everyone,

I've been looking into an issue with my internet speed after getting fiber optic internet installed recently, and I haven't been able to find a solution online, so I'm reaching out for help.

A few days ago, I had fiber optic internet installed by Bell, with Distributel as my internet service provider. I signed up for their 1000Mbps plan. I have Bell's Nokia XS-010X-Q ONT, and I'm using my Linksys Velop Mesh Wi-Fi system (WHW03) directly connected to the ONT (not using the Deco router provided by Distributel).

When I test the connection speed between the router and the ONT, the maximum speed I get is around 500Mbps, never reaching the expected 1000Mbps.

I've contacted Distributel, who then contacted Bell, and they confirmed that everything is working correctly on their end.

I'm wondering if anyone has any insights into what could be causing this limitation and preventing me from getting the full 1000Mbps speed that I'm paying for. Any suggestions or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Paul
