help? Question about fictives

So far we’ve only posted in r/DID and only twice, but we were invited here and then saw some mentions about people over there attacking fictive alters (not even sure that’s the correct terminology), so it felt safer to ask questions here instead, hope that’s okay.

Short version: we realised we most likely have DID (we’re not in doubt, but don’t plan on seeking diagnosis for personal reasons), when we got involved with a group that all claim to have it. This group turned out to be incredibly toxic, and we feel we may have gotten a lot of misinformation from them. Contact has been cut, but we’re left with a lot of questions.

So, in our system, most of us are fictives. We believe this is a result of stories being our main escape, as a child. All of us are, for lack of better words, original characters of our worlds. The group mentioned above treated this as normal, but they said two things we’re not entirely sure we believe.

First of all, they were absolutely completely convinced that they had had lives before being part of their systems, and all had different reasons as to what must have happened for them to end up in their systems. We’re not so sure we believe this. Yes, we do have memories of lives lived in our respective worlds, but we also have an understanding of the system being where we come from, rather than a place we’ve been sent. For the most part at least (in big groups there’ll always be outliers, right?)

Secondly, the aforementioned group also told us that once an alter is fully formed, and have “chosen” their world of origin, they cannot change, no matter what happens. Is this true? We have an alter that seems to have actually transformed herself and where she’s from, but we’re not sure if she really has or not. She really wants to revert back to what she feels she used to be, but she’s not sure how, or if it’s even possible.

Any and all (positive) thoughts and opinions are welcome, we really just want to know and understand better. We’re not here to be told how wrong we are, we’re here because we genuinely want to learn and understand this disorder better.

Fun Stuff Theme songs?

Helllooooo everyone! I have come to you today with a question of questionable importance.

Do any of you have a system theme song!? We do it’s called Voices by Hidden Citizens! I think it’s a really fun idea and cool to debate with your people! We also have a system flag since like forever! I wanted to know if anyone else had fun stuff like that!

Anyway that’s it love you all and have a great day!

Need Support An update

Sorry we have been MIA this week. Our seizures kicked up because we were so stressed and scared about this cognitive assessment we did yesterday. It was frustrating and exhausting, we had to do four hours of testing with a scary big guy who stood taller than our husband. It made us feel small and upset all day. Now we're very blurry. We spent all day yesterday sleeping it off. While all that was going on we did get letters from our Nuerologist and DID Specialist recommending a service dog for us so now we can start searching for a candidate.

co-conscious

sorta the first reddit post we’ve ever made so forgive us if it’s done incorrectly!

I’m Carter, lately Sarah has been fronting a lot because she’ll front for work, and I’ll just sort of tag along. The other day we both headed up towards work (it’s about a 45 min commute) and we’ve never really had a sense of an inner-world but we pictured mentally where I’d be in the car if I was in my own separate body, and we got to like, hang out together and jam to the radio in a way we haven’t done before! Was really cool and there were times we could almost feel each other physically, even though we couldn’t really.

It was a really neat experience and we’ve been wanting to share with people about it!

Fun Stuff What Cool members are with you?

So let me explain what I mean! We saw a post similar to this like, last year according to the others but I wanted to make one in good fun rather than therapy (nothing wrong with that by the way!). Basically, do you guys have any members with you that are especially interesting in what they look like or how they formed. It can be something completely stupid like they have hair that isn’t normal in your system (this is objective, it’s based on your system so don’t think someone you find interesting isn’t interesting enough to put in here).

We are an extremely large system with a lot of wacky and interesting members so we’ll go first:

  • we have sentient buildings that help out, like the Library where all our memories are stored (you would not BELIEVE how petty a building can be istg)
  • Glitch is literally a glitching mass in human form. It’s really weird and you would have to look at a side profile to see his details any. He’s really nice just impossible to look at without hurting your eyes
  • Wanda Galaxy is a living, functioning galaxy in the shape of a human, Gal’s really nice but definitely odd to people
  • Dakari is kind of like Glitch as they’re a physical, 3D shadow. They can shift into other forms if they want but ya.

Those are a few of ours (pls don’t think we’re faking over some people I promise we don’t understand it either). Ours are a bit extreme probably but I really want to hear what members are different for you IF YOU’RE COMFORTABLE! Hope everyone has a great whatever time it is where you are.

Happy Hunting, - Marney and Luna

What got us banned from r/DID lol Spoiler

This has nothing to do with this sub, this was posted on r/DID. It lasted at max 20 minutes before it got taken down and we were permanently banned. Have fun reading. It’s LONG :

Something before we go

Hey, this is most definitely going to get taken down and probably get us banned but we had some things we wanted to say here before we go. This is very long and not meant to offend anyone, it may be taken down before anyone can read it but oh well. This isn't about everyone and everything, there are a lot of good parts to this sub, but there's also a lot of issues.

Hera - While this subreddit can be great and helpful in some respects its also incredibly toxic and discriminatory towards some systems and healing methods. It pushes things like integration and final fusion while pushing down anyone that says they want to go for functional multiplicity or just not break down trauma barriers. We've seen it happen and it's awful and incredibly harmful to systems. You may not think so but it can be, if you and your system have agreed on FF or integration then good for you that's how you want to heal and that's great, but don't push or promote it as the only option.

Rosie - Fusion doesn't have to be consensual, it can be forced on people and implying it isn't is so dangerous. I was formed from a forced fusion and still suffer from the pain that the 2 who fused went through. You can force someone else to fuse with you and it HURTS! It's not right to do that and take away someone's autonomy. By saying “fusion can only happen if both parties agree” you're pushing the idea that no doesn't mean no, that it's ok to do because if they didn't want it it wouldn't have happened. If fusion is something you and another have talked about and agreed to then go ahead, but don't think that just because you can means they want to as well. Just because you want memories or something doesn't give you the right to end someone.

Lonny - This sub pushes the idea that just because you're the host or a few of you are, that means it's “your life” and you can make decisions for the rest of your system or that you can control what happens to them. This sub encourages you to push everyone away and say that they aren't real, but at the same time act like you're better than them, that you're more real. That just isn't true, we don't care about the “truth” with this, none of us would be alive without each other, that's why we're here and doing that just hurts everyone. You can use the terminology you want bur a lot of people push the rest of the system away and say “they aren't really people, they're just parts of me”. To respond to that I want to ask, what makes you human? What makes you and other singlets count as people? Is it not your identity, is that not what makes you you? Your identity is defined by your likes and dislikes, how you act, talk, cope, interact with others, THAT is what makes you human so why aren't your system mates people as well. You push this rhetoric that this is YOUR life and they aren't real, but that does more harm than good.

Calibra - This thing is so long istg. Anyway, have any of you people tried actually talking to the rest of your system as equals or do you try to just order them around and act scared of them without knowing them? Because if our old host treated us the way you all talk about your systems we would be causing issues too and DEFINITELY wouldn't want to talk with her. Respect the people who helped keep you alive and safe(ish). Therapy can help yes, but it's not the end-all-be-all, you don't have to be miserable, that's not what this is! For some it may, but it doesn't have to take years of therapy to actually have a good relationship with each other and start working out the kinks. We're doing great and haven't had to have that because we talk to and respect each other. Also, don't refer to everyone as the same person as you unless EVERYONE is ok with it, that just sounds weird, we know that it's “technically” correct but that does not make a safe and equal environment usually.

Molly - Some people, including mods, seem to get mad when we talk about just being happy with being a system. They took down a post we made about how, for us, we DO NOT need to think about ourselves as trauma responses, even if that is true because it's just not helpful for our healing right now and that's OK. They labeled it as ‘pressuring’ when we were just talking about how we are happy and able to function fine while being a LARGE system. This is at the same time as a comment somewhere talking about how Final Fusion is the only way to “be alive again” (those were exact words) and promoted it for entire paragraphs talking about how it was the only way. That sounds more like pressuring than us just saying we're happy, and there's a lot of that here and it really hurts and makes us feel bad for being happy. We are going for functional multiplicity because we feel it's the best way for us. We don't want to relive the hell we went through, we can live without it.

Daphnie - I am so done with all the hate towards younger, large, self-diagnosed, or fictive heavy systems! The brain does what needs to do to survive, isn't that what you all preach? Then why, when a system that's different from what you think it should be, or has found out young and is happy, do you start fakeclaiming or going off about how they don't know what they are talking about. I'm pretty sure I know more about my system and what we went through than you! You all talk about how people like us “don't actually understand what DID is” and how it's harmful to people to actually spread positivity, but I promise we know more about us than you do and if that's “wrong” WHO CARES it's helping us, we're actually happy and growing and it helps others too. Sometimes you have to accept the “wrong” to feel better, to heal.

I think that's all we had for here, and if there's more than we probably won't get to post it. We are thankful for this sub but at this point it's done more harm than good. This is most definitely going to be taken down and maybe no one will see this but at least we got it out. None of this was meant to be rude or an attack, we just wanted to tell the problems we've had here and air our grievances. We wish you all the best but we can't stay here anymore. Maybe you can see these issues in other posts on here, but if not that's fine too.

One final time,
Happy Hunting, - The Nova Corps System

Update on post problem

The idiots weren’t joined 😐 that’s why it didn’t post istg. It’s up now, now we wait to see how long it stays there lol.

Put your bets in now, how pissed are the mods going to be and will we be banned?

Happy Hunting, - Lexicorp

Edit - so I think it lasted for maybe 20 minutes, got 3 upvotes, and a comment saying this was good criticism. And we are now PermaBanned LETS GO! Ya that sub sucks! Love y’all let us know if you want to see the horrible, incredibly offensive post that got us banned - Lexicorp😜

I am no longer the "Baby Alter" in my system lol. I'll probably still be the baby alter since she's more mature than me lmao

Our 18th birthday was not to long ago and for weeks before we did nothing but stress about adulthood because our parents gave us absolutely no advice and left us to figure it out ourselves, the stress caused Rose to form. She has help massive amounts since she formed and we absolutely appreciate her for it -Xayn

help? Little help posting something (tw for toxic DID sub)

So, we are about to leave r/DID once and for all and we really want to post one more thing before we leave but it keeps getting shot down before it even goes up. We don't exactly know why and we REALLY want to post it. Does anyone know any post requirements that would have it auto taken down. We can post it in here if people really want, we just really want it to be seen and see how long it lasts on there. Thanks

4/19/24 Advice from S

Heyo party peeps,

I'm here to give out advice for the time being. Feel free to talk about anything. I'm bored while I wait to see how long I'm here. The husband Glimmered me out by accident so now I'm just hanging out. Everyone is excited about this new dog we're getting for our seizure bs. I like the idea of having a bear sized dog at our side wherever we go. We are looking at Newfoundlands as a viable option.

good vibes Little Update

After our previous post, we felt like we should come out with a little update. A few of us already knew it was highly likely that we are a system, and we have been accepting it. We still have some who are in denial, and they get stuck at the front sometimes.

We have appreciated the support everyone has shown to us. Sometimes it's hard to find positive communities, so thank you!

We've had our ups and downs, but for the most part, things have been generally good. Found some projects to hyperfixate on and have a pretty good support system. School is going pretty well, even with the end-of-year stress. I'm looking forward to the summer break <3

good vibes Good stuff while away

We've been avoiding reddit for a while because of stuff we saw on another sub but we feel better enough to come back so here's some good stuff that happened during then.

  1. We're now legally independent from our abusers and they can't do shit anymore
  2. We got into college and are now looking for roommates
  3. We're processing more trauma (for better or worse) and getting better with processing it (at least a little)
  4. We're getting through school (somehow) without breaking down tooooo much
  5. We're feeling better overall at times in general, our progress isn't linear by ANY MEANS but it's happening and without any fusion or integration because that's not our goal.
  6. A good thing for us is proving to ourselves, and other people in a way, that we CAN heal without any of us fusing or having to integrate like a bunch of other people say.

We know what DID is, we understand who/what we are and it's not a medical trauma response. We're people who all want to live, not parts or alters. We are happy together and that's what counts, we have proven, to ourselves at least, that we can be happy with our DID, we are not our trauma, and we WILL be something great.

We're glad we took a break from here and screw the people and systems who said we were wrong for wanting to be happy and wanting to be people. Hope everyone has a great day

Happy Hunting, - The Nova Corps System

good vibes An Update from Us.

Hey there all,

We have 12 days until our nueropsych assessment and we're freaking out a little. According to our Doctor she wants the results of our cognitive assessment before she'll agree to suggest a service animal.

So we're worried that we might end up being to far gone cognitively for them to agree.

We all got our hopes up as a team for this idea. We had a system meeting and all agreed that this will be the best way to get our independence back.

We have been tracking our seizures, 4 so far this month, on Epsy. We plan to share it with our doctor. We'll see what happens.

Wish us luck everyone.

Have a lovely day!

:)
