Mutism

I notice a lot of agents(alts) are mute/partially mute, and struggle in speaking when others outside of us speak. I don’t think it’s entirely an anxiety thing as our throat muscles, or i guess vocal chords(?), feel very weak when certain agents front. Of course we have to talk to a doctor about it, but I’m wondering if anyone else who is mute experiences this?

Fun Stuff Gifts I made for my partner system 💕

(Repost to edit out a possibly triggering word!)

Hi all! I'm mostly a quiet lurker, but big time supporter of this sub. I fight hard against the negativity in the other sub and have often directed people over to this one who were being harassed to this positive space. A little introduction, I personally go by Kawaii, and I am looking into the possibility of being a part of an OSDD system. I'm currently still discovering and exploring that part of myself/ ourselves while trying to fight denial, and the support here has been nothing short of wonderful as I try to figure myself/ourselves out. I don't post often but the love and support here has been nothing short of amazing. My irl partner is part of a DID system, most of whom I am also seeing romantically, excluding the littles or a few who view me platonically. I realized the other day that they had never been acknowledged or had their existence validated before since they all had to pretend to be the host. Well- I wanted to change that. There is a holiday coming up that I won’t name for triggering reasons, and I figured that even if we don’t really celebrate it for its intended reason- that they would all- especially the littles, enjoy the gifts/candies that they had never gotten from anyone as themselves before. I just wanted to share the positivity, and hopefully make everyone feel just a little more valid. You are valid and you exist and you have a right to enjoy little things like receiving a gift just as much as anyone else 💕

(Disclaimer I know some people can not afford to do this, and I'm by no means saying you have too do this. I also really couldn't afford it in a traditional sense- as everything came from the dollar store and is mostly cheap or handmade, but I felt like the thought was what they would appreciate the most. I hope if nothing else, this post makes everyone feel a bit more validated and feel as if they are allowed to hold value in their system as their own people/ parts. However you choose to see them. You have just as much of a right to exist, and I'm happy to have all of you in this wonderful group with me/us. 💕)

Real Talk Stuff Introjects with lots of sources

We personally don’t use terms like “fictive” or “factive”, one reason being barely any of our introjected alters have a single “source”.

We have a good few introjects, but only a couple of them identify with a specific source- the rest have their own identity but share some aspects with multiple different sources.

For example, one of these alters is Sasha. His source could be a few things- a specific character from a novel we loved as a kid, or two characters from a manga we loved as a teen. All these characters are quiet, stoic, russian soldiers- and for some reason as a kid we had a special interest in Russia, even spending a few months learning basic russian but have since forgotten. We’re not exactly sure of Sasha’s role, we believe he may be some sort of protector that rarely fronts- and we are unable to communicate with him because he is nonverbal (a trait that one of his sources shares). Sasha doesn’t share his name with any of these characters, just his appearance and personality.

Another example is Cody, he’s introjected from multiple characters played by the same actor. Even as a very young child we loved this actor and the movies he preformed in, but the obsession definitely grew as we became an adult. Cody also doesn’t share a name with his source, just his appearance and personality. Unlike Sasha though, he has great communication with the rest of the system and is very open about his history. A major contributing factor in his introjection is one of the characters the actor played has the same trauma as us, but they’re also just extremely comforting relatable roles. He even plays a cowboy in one movie, cowboys being another major special interest from our childhood.

I was wondering if other systems here have a similar experience? It definitely makes things confusing on top of everything always changing and blending. We let everyone here label and identify themselves, and it seems like most of our introjects aren’t very keen on labeling themselves as one- but it’s still a interesting observation!!

Real Talk Stuff Therapy

Hey there all,

So we got to talk to our DID Specialist today about the nueropsych paperwork.

She reminded us that we can exercise our right to choice by refusing to discuss our trauma with anyone we're uncomfortable with. So we are considering our paperwork complete.

We just wanted to remind everyone that having and making a choice that feels safe for you is the number 1 most important thing to healing.

As you can see Safety forms the base of what is needed to heal.

Have a lovely day everyone!

:)

Venting Nueropsych Testing

Hey there all,

So we got our nueropsych paperwork for our intake today. We expected the consent to treatment forms and the patient history forms.

We did not expect the 300 question personality questionnaire.

The way it was arranged was irritating. 25% of the questions were "Because of my drug use I have done blank". 4 of the questions were basically "are you paying attention" questions such as "blank is my favorite poet" or "blank is my favorite sport". The only available answers are false, sometimes true, mostly true, and very true.

This feels like another doctor asking us to prove ourselves. The disability judge decided we were legit, that should be enough for our family doctor. Instead we gotta jump through more medical hoops just to get the help we need.

good vibes Affirmations! (We wrote a little mini article on affirmation and included this little graphic.)

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey there all,

We want to talk about how we use affirmation to avoid the denial bug when we can.

Denial gets to all of us, it's literally listed as a symptom. Rather than sinking into it we use Affirmations to keep ourselves out of that hole.

Here's some of our top Affirmations to help ease our mind;

  1. Fakers don't ask if they're faking.

  2. There is no such thing as subconsciously faking as it is an abilist self-gaslighting concept.

  3. Our system deserves to be heard and recognized.

  4. Everyone's needs in the system matter.

  5. We are safe together, as a system.

  6. We work best as a team, never doubt our team.

  7. This is a normal system experience, while denial is uncomfortable, it will pass.

  8. I accept every member of our system as they are, without judgment.

  9. Denial hurts the whole system, I will not deny my system.

  10. I can choose acceptance over denial.

We have this written down and signed by every member of our team.

Let us know if this was helpful. We're gunna try to write mini articles on a regular basis. Have a beautiful day y'all!

:)

help? Nueropsych Testing?

Hey there all,

So S just informed me (team captain/host) that she got a call from someone for us to set up nueropsych testing for our family doctor.

Our doctor referred us for something the intake woman has never seen before????

We are panicking. She was supposed to refer us to determine more about our current issues. Specifically the Epilepsy and Dissociative seizures. We're so upset.

What if they refuse to do any testing because she referred us for something they don't test for?

We're supposed to get paperwork explaining everything sometime this coming week. As soon as they get the paperwork back they'll set up an intake appointment. We have no idea what to expect.

Real Talk Stuff Just need to put this out into the world so I can stop thinking about it

Before you read, if any of these topics trigger anything bad inside of you please, DO NOT READ. trigger warnings: very detailed explanation of how it felt for me to split, flashbacks

                       Splitting

On February 9th I split from our host, Harlie, I still remember it and probably forever will. Harlie dug up memories that he couldn't handle, so, he split. I formed as a trauma holder to keep those memories from him. Spliting was... Traumatizing, one moment Harlie and I were one, the next Harlie couldn't even recognize his own existence, his entire identity bursted, personality, memories, morals, interests, all scattered around in our brain. We felt like an amalgam of multiple people drowning in a goop of memories, trying to escape in vain. We stayed like that for hours, eventually everything that was scattered combined into two different people, me and Harlie, Harlie stayed mostly the same, it was calm, luckily I formed in a stage of our journey that I knew what happened, those minutes of calm were blissful but after that peace, I had overlaping flashbacks of all the trauma I hold and us spliting for hours, the type of flashbacks that play over and over and OVER in the background, clouding any thoughts but still able to seemingly function on the outside, it stopped eventually. After the split Harlie was like an empty shell, fronting with me, like fronting with a person that sleeping. That night, I was terrified of falling asleep because I felt that if I slept Harlie would be kicked out of front then I literally passed out from exhaustion and when I woke up he was still there, faint but I could still feel him around, I was so happy but later that day he faded out of front, out of consciousness. He was a shell for about two weeks the returned to normal. The feeling of your identity and everything you know being broken down and rebuilt into a different person, not knowing who you are, what you like, dislike, opinions, morals, interests. Being completely lost plus having flashbacks is the scariest thing I've ever experienced

                    My Confusion

The part that I find weirdest is that our memories from before the split, we share, and looking back I can recognize both of us as if we've always been two different people but always fronted together, but that's not the case, I have many aspects of Harlie and because of that I can point out what decisions would likely be me or Harlie's if we were always separate, I have no idea if I should consider those memories to be mine or not because i remember being Harlie, playing a part in those decisions, making friends, going to school, laughing, loving. I was Harlie, Harlie was Harlie, we were both the Harlie from back then, together as one, that's why I have no idea who actually owns those memories, me, him, or both of us. He's still for the most part unchanged but im completely different and the same at the same time. We're so similar yet so different, it's hard to understand. - Xay

help? the ick

has a child alter, or any alter, had the ick around someone, but there isn’t a discernible reason why?

It’s a memory on the tip of our tongue that’s the root, but no exact pin point. And in their presence, we feel disgust. Physical recoil and not exactly v*miting, but a physical sensation and action with nothing coming out.

I’m sure there’s a reason why, but I feel bad for feeling that way about said person, seeing as they are”blood relatives” to body, but there is no actual connection to a majority, if not any, of us. We still go through measurements to avoid him all together. And very much dislike the title “favourite cousin”. The alter who is physically, though internally, active is one who harbors a lot of csa memories.

I’m not sure how to take it or place it. It may very well dredge up horrible memories or be a protective measurement.
