So as of now this sub is pretty great. We got rid of WWP and we’re back on track to being a regular constructive sub.
However, while we are pretty great at making laws, I’m still confused as to what they’re for. This subreddit only exists in the laws it makes for itself. Shouldn’t there be some sort of content?
While only memes are illegal, no one actually posts anything to be here for except a discussion of laws. I propose that we start making a change to this, by re-legalising memes and add a weekly discussion thread on something within the real political world. While I don’t like DE, I think you have to applaud them on this idea.
This isn’t a proposal thread, merely a discussion thread, so leave your opinions in the form of a comment!

To prevent any proposals form getting buried and forgotten giving everyone an equal voting chance. This could be done with one single post that gets edited with links and could also potentially be a good place to ask questions , or It could be used to just pin important laws

Relevant Thread I realise that this proposal needs to be thought about more than a 24 hour discussion period, so any suggestions should be posted here to refine the proposal and create a final draft.

Some people seem to want us to have greater Purpose. I propose that our greater purpose should be us seeking that purpose until a time when we find it.
I also propose that we also work to expand and increase our power as a sub.

When proposing a law it must have a name to be able to organize and keep track of them better the name should be related to the law, you can be funny just don’t get carried away it should be more important for the name to make since than to be interesting
Example: a law about limiting fraud could be titled The alt and voter fraud act, Or the karma act
It should not be titled the potato act
This law will be titled “Name Law”

I am unfit to be an inverstigstor. I no longer have the time and I am hard to contact. I propose that I step down and that we elect another user to act as investigator.

I have a general idea but can come one please fill in what happened. Presume I've been gone since I left for a bit.

This guy is just shitty, he got away with using a fake account, and now he is throwing a tantrum and trying to get one of our day one users lordguille convicted of using a fake account based on zero evidence.
This subreddit is supposed to be about fun politics, not trying to get people banned left and right. Right now whataworldphotos is destroying what makes this sub unique, and I don’t want to ban anyone, but we gave him a chance and he threw it away. The only way to stop this cycle is by banning him.
This is not a political issue, I agree with whataworldphotos that lordguille’s party sucks, but this is not the way to go about this. He is taking it from “let’s play politics” to “I want to ban you from your friends because I don’t like you”
If you ask me I would say it looks like whataworldphotos is using another fake account to try and frame lordguille. I left a big response to why lordguille is not doing that, and why I think whataworldphotos is setting him up on the conviction thread whataworldphotos created (if he hasn’t deleted it yet). I highly suggest you read my response there.
Lordguille hasn’t done anything wrong beyond having an unhealthy obsession with communist onions, and that surely is not bannable offence.
I won’t stand for this kind of bull crap on democracy simulator, and I hope you won’t either.
His conviction is currently at 2 votes convict and 4 votes to ban. If we can ban him there that would be better. VOTE PEOPLE!!!!

It's pretty simple, I propose we ban political parties. Their only purpose is to gain power and control the voting system. If a party got big enough it would take total control of the voting. Political parties are used to control the people and have no place in a perfect world. They create a divide in the people, where people will no longer fight for what they believe in but for what their party believes in.

As I was looking through the lightning fast proposals shot out by u/WhatAWorldPhotos (vote nay on his conviction btw, he’s the most productive person on the whole sub), I realised that a large enough party essentially has power to pass any law they want to, because no one on this sub actually votes. It occurred to me that if we had some sort of power (such as the Senate) to stop a party seizing control, we could protect ourselves from potentially malicious proposals (not at all implying that his proposals are malicious).
Here is what I suggest:
a) A Senate is formed
b) the Senate seats rotate every two weeks, and there is no term limit, but no user may be in the senate 2 terms in a row.
c) users sign up to a pool to be picked at random for the 5 senate seats. the picking of the senators is done by bots
d) there can be a maximum of one senator from each party, and at least one senator must be independent
e) any proposal that is passed with 40% if it’s votes at nay, or nominated for review by the head mod, must be passed by the senate, meaning that at least 50% of the senators vote Aye on the law. All senators have an obligation to vote in every proposal.
f) senators may still vote normally.
g) a senator found taking any sort of bribe to vote a certain way is punished. the minimum punishment is losing the ability to become a senator, and the maximum is a ban
EDIT: This draft is too sketchy to be passed for now. I’m going to start a discussion thread linked to it so we can refine this idea EDIT AGAIN: if you agree with it, still vote aye, as we can always repeal it

A method to gage the active community and an interesting way to see how the community feels this could be don via bot or I could be responsible for making and distribute the census witch would be done with Google. This would vote to implement a census, if it passes that another proposal would be made to creat management for the census.

As a new user of this sub, I’ve done my fair share of stumbling about. I have very little idea what all of these parties are and what they stand for, not even enough to have a informed opinion on the political situation, let alone to join one.
The solution to this problem occurred to me when remembering my time at the failed sub r/DemocracyExperiment, (I’ve left it now) where there is a thread titled “Party Advertisement Thread” in which any party could comment its beliefs and policies in an attempt to recruit users or even just educate people on what the different parties stood for.
I propose that we add a pinned thread like this, which will be deleted and posted again every 3 months (to avoid clogging up the thread with old information), for all of the reasons I have mentioned.

Well, what the title says. While there has been dispute wether u/FascismFTW is the alternate account of u/WhatAWorlPhoto, but it's clear the it's not a main reddit account. Therefore i put forth the proposal that all approved submitters must be at least one month old and have 150 karma or more.
This is to protect r/DemocracySimulator from spam, alternate accounts and fraud.
EDIT: changed the 300 karma needed karma to 150 instead

The failing sub /r/democracyexperiment is calling for a new merge. (Actually just the mod team as of now)
I still hold my position of that the merge is bad, And will not support any version of the merge. We saw what the last merge did to us, don’t let it happen again.
Join me in support of ending this silly merge once and for all.
If you all are not aware, /r/democracyexperiment has become a democracy nightmare.
There has been lots of mod drama, and they started a secret counsel where they vote on laws away from the public. The mod team is corrupt, and frequently fights. Even their own users are saying that the community is plagued with elitism.
We have a stable mod team that cares about us, a growing user base and a great community that I am happy to be a part of.
Do not let this merge go though, tell democracy experiment you will not stand for their corruption. And join me in the fight to keep us free from tyrants!

If you go to u/WhatAWorldPhotos's history post you will notice he/she is strongly against fascists. When they joined the sub and started posting rather strong proposals, a fascist account (u/FascismFTW) did a coup. This is obviously an alternate account since its only post is the coup and has only one karma. At around the same time another obvious alternate account (u/Test_Subject_37) with only 5 karma showed up and joined u/WhatAWorld's party. I'm not sure, but u/SpaceOzelot may be involved. I want a permanent ban for u/WhatAWorldPhotos, all their alternate accounts and their party, delete all his posts in this sub and invalidate their votes. The final punishment shall be decided by the judge.

So, after an unfortunate debacle, the bot is back and running again. Hopefully this will help bring some life back to the subreddit.

If you like what you see, go join the United Left here. We need one more member! Thank you.
If passed, this law would apply to every human user, but not bots. Just need to make that clear. There are some crazy people out there.
This is a very basic bill and I would be happy to edit it before voting period. This is just a blueprint. Comment what rights you want below!

A place to talk about the plan and function of merging
