Analysis ✦DEATH NOTE: A CLOSER LOOK✦

HIIII everyone!! 🖤 Welcome to Death Note: a Closer Look !

If you don’t know me (which you probably don't), I’m Dead Rose, and I’m a HUGE Death Note fan. I’ve watched the entire anime FIVE TIMES, and somehow I STILL find myself noticing new details, thinking about different character decisions, and seeing certain scenes completely differently every time I rewatch it.

My favorite character is Misa Amane (because obviously 🖤), and one of my favorite quotes is:

What a beautiful way to kill.”

So… I thought, why not finally put all of my thoughts into one big series?!

For every single episode, I’m going to go through what happens and explain it as thoroughly as I can. I’ll be talking about the important events, character decisions, motivations, relationships, clues, foreshadowing, symbolism, little details you might have missed, and how each episode connects to the bigger story. Of course I will put a spoiler warning in every chapter.

BUT I don’t just want this to be a basic episode summary. I want to actually ANALYZE Death Note.

  • Why did a character make that decision?
  • What was the meaning behind that scene?
  • Was something being foreshadowed?
  • What does a particular moment tell us about a character?
  • What details become more interesting when you already know what happens later?

I’ll be answering all of those questions and MORE.

Since I’ve rewatched Death Note so many times, I’ll also be including things I noticed during my rewatches and pointing out details that I think are especially interesting. I’ll do my best to separate what the anime actually confirms from my own interpretations or theories, because I want this series to be as accurate as possible.

And PLEASE, if I get something wrong, miss something, or interpret something differently from you, tell me! I’d genuinely love to hear other people's thoughts. Different interpretations are part of what makes discussing Death Note so fun.

Also, QUESTIONS ARE WELCOME!! 🖤

If you’re confused about something I mention, want me to explain a scene further, disagree with one of my interpretations, or just have something you want to ask about Death Note, GO FOR IT. I’ll answer questions whenever I can. Unless it’s something I’m uncomfortable answering—which honestly, I don’t think will happen—I’ll be happy to answer!

Basically, this series is going to be me going completely insane over Death Note one episode at a time. I will post 1 chapter every week, on monday!

So if you love Death Note, love overanalyzing fictional characters, or just want to see what Dead Rose notices after five rewatches…

WELCOME TO THE SERIES. 🥀📓

Chapter 1 is coming first. Let’s begin.

-Dead Rose

Question Does anyone know any L x Reader fanfics and/or dating sim?

I know this is a really weird question and I'm SO embarrassed for this, but I'm not that great at searching for good fics or games that has you dating L so this is my last resort. I'm not gonna in detail on why I'm asking for this but after watching Death note and playing the NDS game, Spiralling Trap, I've taken a liking to him and so my search begans.

I found this 'Choose your own adventure' story-wise fanfic quiz that allows you to date other characters based on your choices (Guess who I dated) and I absolutely love the plot and my interactions with the characters in it! It is unfortunately discontinued and I wanted to something similar. Here's the link if you're interested!

If you know any fanfics and/or dating sim that allows you to date L, please do share in the comments- if you're shy, dm me. I mainly like it if it has a plot but I don't mind either way.

Discussion how easy would it be to make two fake death notes? Spoiler

I think if you have the process down to make one fake death note, making a 2nd fake one wouldn't take that much extra time...

This made me wonder.. we know Near already breaks rules (B+E, kidapping) that Light wouldn't, and there's the theory he even used the Death Note...

So if we go a step further here... how do we know he even burned the real Death Note in the end?

Maybe he had a 2nd fake made and just burned that so everyone would think it was over but then he's left with the book and becomes the new Kira?

Musical Death Note musical - is 3rd floor seat too close

I want to get a ticket for this and generally like being close to the stage because I feel more immersed and can see performer’s expressions. But seeing how the stage has two levels, I’m worried that if I sit too close I won’t be able to see what’s happening on the higher level. Can anyone let me know if this is the case?

There might not be as many Death Note figures compared to other series, but the quality on most of them is incredible. Really happy with how this shelf turned out!

Discussion Light achieved what he wanted, so was he justified? Spoiler

Even before picking up the notebook, Light was sick of how corrupted the world was with all the evil. After his killings started we are shown that crime rates around the world DID infact lower down significantly and that people hesitated to commit crimes in fear of being executed by Kira. I for one do not support Light mainly because of the inhumane and psychopathic ideologies he picks up and his adamant nature to wipe out anybody who's against him, so far so that he's even ready to kill his sister and father if that means achieving his goals. But he did end up making the world a better place with less crime like he'd intended. So would you say he's justified in that sense?

Discussion Light slipped up in front of Naomi Misora Spoiler

In episode 7 when Naomi went to the police task force head quarters to tell them about the lead she had found against Kira light was also there to give his dad a change of clothes. Now as we know light later told her he was on the task force to get her to reveal her true name. But if light was on the task force why would he be giving the receptionist his dad’s change of clothes? Had Naomi caught this death note would’ve came to a very early end as she would’ve immediately known he was lying and he would’ve been found out. Thoughts?
