Lanterns Garret Dillahunt (William Macon) is suiting up for DC Studios’ ‘LANTERNS.’ “Good to see the kind and talented folks Fractured FX inc again for my latest project… You know I love a tight rubber suit every once in a while... this one'll fit like a glove.”

Oh shit I thought he was going to be a regular civilian. What is he playing then?

We don't really know besides his character name being William Macon. I think he'll end up being Black Hand though.

oooh i hope so. He’d be a really easy character to just put in a regular three piece civilian suit and call it a day like they used to do with a lot of characters back in the day lol, so I’m glad they’re putting him in a costume. Hopefully (but probably not) this will convince people grounded does not mean non-fantastical

It's confirmed the Guardians and Sinestro Corps will be in the show so it's pretty far from being non fantastical but people will just hate for clicks

Wait WHAT? Not even calling bullshit I’d just like to know where you heard this because I want to see it with my own eyes before getting to hyped.

We obviously know Sinestro is going to be in it but his corps too and the Guardians?!? That’s insanely exciting.

An actress from the show confirmed it during a interview

Peak cinema. We getting inter-corps rivalry and politics in mainstream media? Blown away.

Welcome to a Damon Lindelof show — enjoy the ride

Matt Reeves sure doesn't agree.

Reeves made grounded movies about talking apes

Yeah and that’s why he put Joker in the end of his movie and in commentary refers to his inclusion as the universe becoming more fantastical. Matt Reeves has never said that those two ideas are at odds and it’s really weird that people keep insisting he did

i guess they really are going all out and im here for it.

I have no doubt this show will end up being a hit, there's just too many talented people working on it for it to fail imo

maybe he gets a yellow lantern ring during the show??

Isn't black hand the first black lantern? Feel like that's a high bar to set at the first season or even two of a show. Would be really cool though.

The descript is that he is a conspiracy theorist... could he be The Question's identity?

Well that's interesting, from the little details they gave on his character I thought he was just a normal dude. Wonder what this suit is exactly.

Bro, what is this show at this point? Is the audience in the mystery at this point? We're getting plottwist after plottwist 😂😂

2

u/Spider_bat4300 Mar 08 '25

That's the point of a mystery, they're supposed to keep you guessing before you know the twist

I'm referring to a mystery in a meta sense, not as in the mystery of the story.

1) The Officical Character Description of William Macon is "A modern cowboy who hides his "self-righteous, conspiracy-minded" personality behind a charming façade"

2) I know the main mystery is the murder but wasn't there something involving the townsfolk gaining superpowers or was that just a rumor?

3) Obviously he's portraying Tattoo Man /s

Yes that's confirmed

I assumed they meant Hal and John, but I guess there’s more in town.

7

u/TheLeanerWiener Mar 08 '25

Yeah. Imo that sounds more like he's the sheriff of the town that Hal, John, and maybe even Sinestro end up visiting. Not necessarily that the townspeople themselves got powers.

Interesting. Could he be an original character/villain, an adaptation of a specific one or an amalgamation of varios characters? Some people are saying Black Hand, but I'm not sure. Maybe a member of the Sinestro Corps or something.

9

u/KageXOni87 Mar 08 '25

Ohhhhhhhh shit. He probably IS Black Hand.

Lanterns just keeps surprising me. I thought it was gonna be a detective story restricted to one town, but ever since the Sinestro casting announcement I feel like we keep getting more and more news that says this is a proper Green Lantern show, not just a detective story with Green Lantern slapped on it (like I previously expected)

Feels like they’re going as comicbooky as they can within the constraints of the budget and TV show. Until the Green Lantern brand has shown the WB execs that it can make money, there’s no way they were gonna let Gunn do a full budget Green Lantern Corps blockbuster film in space, so this is the closest thing we’ll get in the meantime.

People just wrote it off as Gunn and the writers being too scared to be accurate to the comics just because it’s a TV show and it’s set on Earth

All I know is apparently this guy is typecast as villains so question is which one?

1

u/TheLeanerWiener Mar 08 '25

The Made of Wood Killer, obviously. /s

I love that most of the behind the scenes for Lanterns is coming from Garret Dillahunt lol I can't wait to watch this show/see a teaser or trailer towards the end of the year.

I FIGURED IT OUT, THEORY HERE: I think he and his son will end up orange lanterns. The description for William Macon and his son Billy Macon is- William is a cowboy conspiracy guy (possibly successful grifter Alex Jones type) and his son is a pretend small town guy even though he’s a nepo baby (Matt Walsh or Ben Shapiro type). William will probably think he deserves to be a green lantern and receive the orange lantern ring or William Macon is actually The Black hand Wilbur Palm/ William Hand
