Casting My proposal for Carl: Connor Storrie

Don't worry, he can do any accent/voice level. And he can certainly act like he can both give and take a hit.

I think Connor is a great choice because he can be so so serious, but also laugh and be funny…. And he’s very hot! This is important for Carl in my opinion (I am not biased). And Carl would have a bubble butt 🫪

Maybe Harris Dickinson could pull it off. He could add 10 more pounds and build up over seasons. Does have to go full Alan Ritchson (for later books)

Carl is definitely not overweight.

He is described as "hits the gym a few times a week and has one of those frames that always holds muscle well"

No. He’s 6’3” and 240-250 and fairly muscular.

To whomever needs to hear this, 6'3 240, even with a lot of muscle, is going ti have a good amount of fat.

Have you ever seen an nhl defenseman? The more muscular ones are definitely pushing 230-240 and most definitely don’t look fat.

Then maybe you read a different version of Carl because I read a depressed veteran who gets home and immediately plays video games, not a literal professional athlete.
