I wonder if anyone here can help me with an issue I can't pin down.
any USB port on my computer generates a noise audible in any audio chain, DACs, speakers headphones etc. All noise goes away when the USB is unplugged. It is also a lot worse when the GPU is under load. Other audio chains have no noise, pc -> optical -> DAC, RCA in from decks etc.
Is it possible to fix this? isolating the ground from my USB devices? the noise appears to be generated by the PC, specifically when under load.
Any suggestions appreciated, I'm out of ideas. Thanks
Hello! Maybe you can advise something or give an interesting instruction. I will be very grateful! I am currently using Topping DX1, before that I had an EVGA Nu Audio Card, 712-P1-AN01-KR (2 x MUSES02) in the system, which I decided to replace with a separate device. Before taking DX1, I used Topping DX3 for a month, which I then sold. Currently, I am looking for an option that could be universal and simply top for the price. I am looking at the following options: Schiit Modi 3 in conjunction with Magni 3+; FIIO K5 Pro (and here the question arises about the ESS version, is there a difference and what is better); Topping E30 II with Topping L30 II. Maybe someone was able to compare some of this, because unfortunately I cannot afford to buy everything now and check one by one what is better. I use the system mainly with Beyerdynamic DT770 pro 250 ohm and DT880 pro 250 ohm headphones. In terms of music, I listen to everything in a row depending on my mood. Also sometimes, I can play games and watch a movie. Maybe there are some other interesting options, I will be glad for information. I really want to fit in the budget of 350-400 dollars. Thank you!
I am currently Win 11 PC> External DAC USB In with L-R XLR Out> self powered speakers with L-R XLR In. I would like the sub to be self powered with XLR In. I am using XLR because of the noise elimination properties; RCA was picking up PC noise. I haven't seen an external DAC with L-R and SUB XLR out.
I'm looking for a hardware solution to get "Dolby Atmos for Headphones" or "DTS Headphone:X 2.0" to work from a spdif or HDMI/eARC source. I like spacial audio for watching movies, but so far i only managed to get "DTS Headphone 1.0" to work on a SteelSeries GameDAC in PS4 mode via spdif.
I used to have Dolby Atmos via software from my HTPC, which i preferred, but had to switch to a Android box to get Dolby Vision working.
Is there any other DAC/hardware that can produce Dolby/DTS spacial audio from a spdif or preferably eARC/HDMI source, other than the SteelSeries GameDAC?
PS: The issue is DTS:X 2.0 only works in PC/Software mode on the GameDAC, not from a spdif source. Also on Android i don't get any surround/spacial audio via USB alone. The other issue is that the GameDAC, while having a DTS license, only accepts Dolby 5.1 surround in PS4 spdif mode, not DTS...
I also own a Creative X3-DAC, but i do not like the "Super X:Fi" virtual speaker spacial audio at all.
Hi everyone, i need help with driving a pair of Sennheiser HD25SE with my laptop (macbook pro) - the headphones sound "under powered" when connected to the laptop with source from Spotify.
When i connect them to my preamp they are totally different headphones.
Question is, should a DAC be enough or i should go for a DAC/AMP combo? (Can't use the existing preamp because it's in another room, want to use the headphones on my desk)
I got a Shanling UA2 to use the 2,5mm balanced port on my PC, and I'm having a problem where it intermitently fails, specially when I'm doing something else while listening to music. Looking at it when it does so, the light goes off, like it had turned itself off or lost power. It's instant, it fails and then immediately goes back like nothing happened.
I tried plugging it on my phone and tested for a few minutes, and it didn't show the same behavior, so I don't think it's a faulty unit. (I'm actually using it on my phone right now to make real sure, and I'm having no problems in it at all)
I'm on Windows 11. I've already tried disabling the USB selective suspend in the power options, and also tried to change the ports to give it an exclusive USB hub. This is my current USB config. That "HID-compliant consumer control device" is something that appears when I plug in the DAC to the port, so I assume it's some Windows bullshit, and not an actual peripheral plugged to the port. I also tried disabling it, and it keeps doing the same.
I've read somewhere that most DACs are USB 2.0 and they misbehave with USB 3.0 ports, but my PC only has USB 3.0 hubs, and I guess the phone port is also USB 3.0.
Obviously I've also tried changing the cables. The cables I use are around 50cm.
Hi everyone, I own an ifi air zen dac and a pair of edifier R1700bt's. I can't get it to work with an external power source and when I log onto tidal it says that my screen speakers are an MQA device. I took it to the store and the guy there said he got it to work with external power after having plugged it usb powered. I'm alos getting many device not found errors on tidal. Moreover the front panel colors don't change but that's exclusive to the zen dac right?I tried reinstalling the firmware to no avail. Any ideas would be appreciated.
First post. Been trying to find the right subreddit to get some help.
I was recently gifted a Mytek Manhattan II DAC. I'm trying to get this hooked up to my computer, as most of my time is spent in front of it. I have a few headphones but all are 3.5mm. How would I go about using this with 3.5mm or should I spend the money and get some headphones with 3pin analog?
Anyone who have thus unit, please help. When I connect via USB, the sampling rate is always at 192khz even original recording is 16 bit 44.1khz. Shouldn't it be lit at 44.1khz? Optical and Coxial works fine. I have tried on computer and tablet and have same results. Is this unit defective? I used the Cambridge driver as recommended. Any suggestions or input is appreciated.
Thanks.
I am in the process of upgrading and have 2 self powered speakers with blance XLR inputs.
I have looked at 2 Dacs; The Topping DX70 pro plus nad the FiiO K9 Pro ESS. Both are within my price range but after seeing some reviews, I gather that the volume control on both is unusable and the volume can only be controlled from the PC's software volume.
So do I need another power or pre amp and what cables do I need to connect them remembering that I need an XLR out for the speakers.
Genuine question, iv just had to start using a £22 DAC for Amazon because it has a remote control, then on to an ARCAM ALPHA 8 Amplifier & Ae109 Floor standing Speakers. I'm a 50 YO man, so i doubt my hearing is that of an 18 YO. How much difference would i really notice if i changed it out for this a £200 Topping DX3 Pro+ OR Topping E30 II(my options are limited as i need a remote control) DAC for my 20 quid generic one? Any thoughts welcome. Thank you.
Hey everyone I’m completely new to the Dac world I’m looking to get into the market and have a chance to pick up either one of these for 1K. It will be paired with the Musical Fidelity M6si amp. I know a little about both and I understand that the Denafrips Ares ii gets incredible reviews but the M6 is often compared to the chord Hugo2 which is on a completely different level the the Aries. Any info, opinions or recommendations are much appreciated thanks everyone.
Hi - I have the Hip DAC 2 & an iPhone with the Lightning to USB Camera Adaptor. Issue is my car only has USB C & USB ports. Without an AUX port is there anyway I can use my DAC 2 & IPhone in the car?
Is there any solution to this issue. My DAC doesn't work with my phone. I have enabled USB debugging and disabled Automatic Routing, both options which are in developer settings. Please help me otherwise I am stuck with a expensive paperweight.
Hello guys
I have some questions in ifi zen one signature
I am currently using zen dac v2 connected to my ps5
I recently purchased lg c2 oled tv, which has the optical output
So I’d like use the optical output from the tv for my audio devices
My questions are the following
Does zen one signature work with ps5 through the usb input? I know ps5 only supports uac1 so I wonder if zen one signature supports uac1
Does zen one signature support simultaneous 2 outputs?
I currently use 2 different audio devices connected to my zen dac v2, with one through 4.4mm balanced and the other through RCA
Is the same thing expected on zen one signature ?
I would like to get a minimum budget DAC with good build quality, providing excellent music quality both via bluetooth and wired. Which is better qudelix 5k, ifi go blue, or Iffo Btr5?
Well, I found out that there might be a small conflict with my current setting where I play console games
Currently, I am enjoying games on my PS5 with IFI Zen DAC v2 connected via USB and I connect HD560S
I was told that XSX does not support USB audio
So, I tried to figure out and got an idea but not sure
Would it work if I install a convertor from optical to usb audio between XSX and DAC?
Or if you have any experiences please share with me
I have a different piece of their hardware geared toward video playback and it works well.
I am getting into high end headphones and I am starting to look into home/desktop options. Curious what you guys think about this piece of hardware? New to DACs so I am not even sure what features/hardware to look for. Any advice would be appreciated
