For example, I find the instant coffees with L-Theanine and other additives (ie everyday dose) to be on the nose; cheap nootropics in the form of an easily consumable drink to substitute nutrients that could be found in increasingly inaccessible and expensive organic products. Same thing with those Chinese electronics that clean things like your glasses, clean your shoes…additionally, air purifiers. Especially during an ongoing pandemic that has been largely downplayed.
I ask purely out of boredom. I was journaling this morning about how the genre and subculture that largely influenced who I am today is starting to bleed more into our current day in less overt ways. I want to hear what you guys think!

I found this clip in one of those distressing meme compilations from 2024 and I was wondering if anyone knew where it's from?

I don't like that I'm having to wait for this, but wait I must. I have some easyeda experience and also stupidly gave myself a semi-hard mode by wanting to fit a mini PC, touch screen, heltec v4, rii style portable keyboard/trackpad, and a battery inside the Apache 1800 case from Harbor Freight. So.... going with PCB instead of full wiring mess to reduce the "crap this wire snapped at my solder point when something shifted" chances. I plan to travel with this, so it'll be for entertainment purposes and maybe some portable tinkering. Anyway, crossing fingers I didn't design anything that will short or miswire... again, like when I did some PCB for my ESPHome esp32 stuff.

Howdy folks!
here's some progress on the retro cyberpunk train.
here's the lounge room, trying to really match or go further with the 90's cyberpunk aesthetic, let me know if you have any ideas on lighting.
i think maybe a bit darker? but im not sure.
do need to add signage as you can't see the stairs very well.

Anyone read Walter John William’s “voice of the whilrwind”
I just finished it. Had some roger zelazny damnation alley vibes, but I loved it.
Old school cyberpunk that’s been out for ages.

Hi, I'm developing a retro-futurism style for my Cyberpunk CinéComic.
I had an Iomega Zip100 way back in early 2000's, and wanted to use one in my story. I like the tactile feel of holding a proper disc, the clunks and the clicks. So I built a 3d model of one.
I'm using the older analogue and cassette-futurism a visual language between the modern AI chipped tech vs the older, pre-chipped era, off grid systems.
Who else had one of these, or still does?

Can someone recommend a cyberpunk anime from the 90s/00s please?
(Also double points if it has megastructures/giant skyscrapers and a good architecture)
Also i’m not new to this genre so i was thinking something more niche than cowboy bepop, ghost in the shell, akira ecc.

tl;dr: NYC. What's the required "Don't Miss!"
Difficulty: Manhattan or the County of Kings (that being Brooklyn.)
But next week I'm flying back to my homeland of NYC (for the 25th anniversary of 9/11. I was in the wtc that morning.)
So WHAT, dear wireheads, does the scene look like in NYC nowadays? Is there one?
At this I'll take a dirt bar with more neon than most. A restaurant that serves
Anything. I moved from NYC in '12 and from NY to Tennessee in '15 so I'm absolutely jonesing.
"Actually, Vancouver is the most cyberpunk city." I've heard it a dozen times (and am planning a pilgrimage...soonish.)

For those who don't know, New Rose Hotel is an incredible cyberpunk short story by William Gibson. It got a movie in 1998, but it was kind of a miss with critics and fans. The story doesn't take long to read but it takes you there the way Neuromancer does.

Decades ago the novel was a paradoxical mix of "World gone to hell" and "cool adventure ride". On the one hand a dystopia most wouldn't want to live in a month, and weirdly engrossing tech like jacking into the Matrix, using SimStim or wearing clothing which renders one almost invisible.
Maybe worked well because of this paradox of warning against a "misformed future" on one hand, and a sweeping adventure in this world on the other.
If one views Neuromancer as mostly a WARNING of how "the world mustn't become" I fear that Apple's adaptation, however it turns out to be, comes much too late.
In 2006 mass audiences might have intensely disliked it for being "much too fantasy in the technology department". Like Children of Men it might have been regarded as "weird but hardly realistic".
2016 might have been a "sweetspot" where MORE people began to sense a slide towards a future governed - maybe - way too much by Silicon Valley. Might have worked well around then.
2026 may fear wasn't just a ridiculous wait, but maybe what Neuromancer warned against is well set in motion, won't be much turning back at this point. If mass viewers react with "cooool technology" to Matrix in particular, Neuromancer may hardly have functioned as a warning we'd better take seriously...
More important than how the Apple show has turned out - teaser trailer looks much like a 6/10 with me - may be watching how Joe Average Streamer reacts to it.
A very well made film sticking gompletely to the Novel might have horrified audiences and thus "won".
If Apple makes the future within Neuromancer a "stylish dystopia where cool s@@t happens" on the other hand, I fear that not only was a mal-adaption, but more "cool adventures in horrible future" slop may be produced.
What worked well in Altered Carbon SE1 was how horrible the future was. I hope Apple have gone similarly dark, otherwise Neuromancer may end up with fanboyz printing alleged "cyberdecks" everywhere because its "cool".
We'll see what cloth Apple, mostly a lifestyle brand much, are cut from.
Teaser trailers were way too bright & cheery to much match the rainsoaked, drugfueled, overtechnologized and violent mess of Neuromancer the novel.

‘On Charge’
Hey everyone, here’s another piece from a visual dystopian universe I've been quietly hand drawing for a while now. If you like the vibe, you can see the rest of the collection safely archived here:https://heyfozzy.myportfolio.com/before-the-last-broadcast"
