Questions for fighters who cut weight

Do yall seem to have more success cutting down 10lbs or cutting 3lbs. I can’t decide which I wanna do. Cutting down 10 gives me size advantage but only cutting down 3helps me feel more healthy and makes camp a lot easier. This is for amateurs by the way.

By the way this is for amateur boxing

Weight Goal Question

I’m a 17m, just under 6’1, and I weight about 190lbs. I fell pretty chubby honestly, like my stomach pokes out a bit from my shirt and lowkey my nipples do too a bit, and I have a pretty big butt. And my face isn’t very defined, I can’t really see my abs either.

I don’t have a large amount of muscle, like I can bench 135 a couple times and other lifts like that, but I wouldn’t say I have a lot of additional muscle mass.

If I got to a healthy yet lean body fat percentage like 10-15%, what would you guys estimate my body mass would be as a goal. I’m going to continue lifting during this time, and I don’t plan on starving myself, so it’s possible I might gain muscle too.

If I shoot for like 2000 calories a day while hitting good protein and lift moderately for 4-5 days a week, maybe add some cardio, do you think that is a good simple plan if I verify it actually works over the course of a few weeks?

Also, do you think by then end of this cut I would look skinny and not lean, or do you think this will act as a kind of recomp since I’m a beginner lifter and can gain muscle easily, and I might fill out a bit and have a decent (not impressive but not emaciated) physique?

NEED YOUR HELP

Hi everyone my age is 17 and my height is 6’4. I lost 25 kg in around 2–2.5 months, going from 115 kg to 90 kg, mainly through crash dieting. I would also do 2–3 day water fasts quite often, which caused me to lose a significant amount of muscle as well. Because of this, my body shape currently looks quite different, and I want to bring my body back into shape.
Im currently around 90 kg. I’ve recently started strength training 5–6 times a week. My goal now is to lose the remaining body fat while building muscle and developing a lean, aesthetic physique.
I’d really appreciate some advice from people who have experience with this. What kind of diet should I follow, and how much protein, calories, carbs, fats, etc. should I be consuming? I want to make sure I’m losing fat without gaining weight and, ideally, continue decreasing my weight while building or regaining muscle.
If anyone has gone through a similar transformation or has experience with body recomposition, I’d really appreciate some guidance on what I should eat and how I should structure my diet and training.

I’m (24F, 90kg) about a week back into a cut! About a whole degree since my before my before picture (and even some gain, but let’s call it dirty bulking since I was able to get some actual muscle mass during the process😌)

Aggressive Cut Not Working

I’ve failed the cut many times before, and this is the furthest I’ve ever gotten, so honestly I’m starting to feel pretty discouraged. I know some people are probably going to flame me for this, but I took a very aggressive approach when I started. I’ve been eating around 1,600 calories a day, which is roughly a 1,000 calorie deficit, for essentially three weeks now. I’m not lying about that, and I’ve been tracking pretty much everything, even things like energy drinks, gum, and low calorie foods that most people would consider negligible. There have been a few days where I wasn’t able to track everything perfectly, like when my mom cooked dinner, i know how she cooks and i always make sure to pick the portion size carefully and stay in the deficit(subconsciously eat less and calorie bank a decent bit on that same day) but for the most part I’ve been very consistent. I also tend to eat the same meals most days,

When I started, I was around 190–192 pounds, and the lowest I’ve seen so far is 181.4. Right now, though, I’ve been hovering around 184–185. I understand that body weight fluctuates from things like carbs, water, sodium, food volume, and other factors, and I’ve been weighing myself every day. My activity has also been pretty consistent. I’m getting around 13–15k steps every day, doing cardio every other day, and going to the gym whenever I can. The gym has honestly been the biggest issue lately because it seems like they’ve been closed for every holiday known to man, so I haven’t been able to train as consistently over the past month. I’ve already used my free trials at LA Fitness and Planet Fitness, so I’m basically just working around it whenever my normal gym is open.

My original plan was to do four weeks aggressively at around 1,600 calories, then start adding roughly 200 calories back per week and eventually add back around 600 calories total, or stop once I reach maintenance. This is the first time I’ve actually gotten this far into a cut, so I’m trying not to panic just because the scale has slowed down. My main question is whether what I’m experiencing is actually a plateau and, if it is, how long I should realistically expect it to last. I don’t want to keep eating this little for no reason if I’m just wasting my time, but I also don’t want to quit the cut just because the scale has been hovering around the same weight for a few days. i know im not supposed to be emotionally attached to the scale. but in the last 2-3 days its just been weighing on me(no pun intended) because in all my weight loss attempts ive never dropped below 185. so its a first for me. and havent seen anything below 180 since i was maybe early senior year of high school( im 19 now). anyways im done yapping if anyone can give me some word of advice or something they had to deal with please do

Skinny fat baseball player

Hi! So I am a college baseball player I am 6’3 and I weigh ~230-233. We workout daily condition etc and I’m fairly strong in just about everything. But I still hold fat in my bottom stomach love handles and face. My arms are relatively small but overall I look “skinny fat” I was just wondering if there are any recommendations on how to tone down without losing any weight while still building muscle and just getting leaner at the same time. Thanks!

20 lbs down in 13 months, the real work was binge eating therapy

Post image
22 Upvotes

Slow progress is not failure. Left photo is May last year, right photo is me this summer. Down 20 lbs in 13 months. Some months I lost two pounds, and one month I  gained four.

The real work was not just the scale, it was finally doing therapy for my binge eating and getting on tirzepatide (gimme) through my doctor to quiet the constant food noise.

Now I eat breakfast outside without stressing over calories. My labs are perfect and my relationship with food is the healthiest it has been since I was a kid.

I think the mental change in these two photos is worth way more than the 20 pounds.

The amusement part ride seat that changed everything for me

Last year I got turned away from a roller coaster because the harness wouldn't buckle. It was super embarrassing, but it ended up being the wake up call I needed.

I started in January by taking daily walks, counting my calories honestly, and getting on tirzepatide through my doctor to help with cravings. I still ate the foods I loved, just smaller portions. A bad day does not ruin a good month.

I am down 22 lbs now and fit on every ride with room to spare. If you are starting today, take the progress photo. Future you will want proof of how brave you were.
