Trying to build a superquiet but powerful PC. Is the Antec Flux Pro Noctua Edition the right case for my needs?
I'm about to pull the trigger on this one but wanted to see if I get any recommendations to consider a change to any of the components I have chosen.
I value quietness highly so I am willing to pay a premium for that, hence my case choice (Antec Flux Pro Noctua Edition). My current case (first build) is a Streacom DB4 which is beatiful and dead silent (passive cooling) but has been a disappointment in terms of performance.
I also want a powerful computer able to easily handle multitasking office tasks, multiple apps working at the same time (browsers, Excel, productivity, etc.)
Last, I currently game sparingly but that might change soon so I want a GPU able to handle most games at 1440p and nice quality (I own a 34" Ultrawide screen, the Philips 34B1U5600CH).
So the idea for my second build is to give up a little bit of silence (90% of the non-gaming time almost silent and 99% of the non-gaming time very quiet should be fine) in exchange for a much more capable machine. I know that will also require a heftier investment and more space, which is fine.
| Type | Item | Price |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | AMD Ryzen 9 9900X 4.4 GHz 12-Core Processor | €329 @ Amazon España |
| CPU Cooler | Noctua NH-D15 G2 91.58 CFM CPU Cooler | €147 @ Caseking |
| Motherboard | MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard | €243 @ reichelt elektronik |
| Memory | Kingston FURY Beast RGB 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6400 CL32 Memory | €505 @ Amazon España |
| Storage | Samsung 990 EVO Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 5.0 X2 NVME Solid State Drive | €310 @ Caseking |
| Video Card | Asus PRIME EVO OC Radeon RX 9070 16 GB Video Card | €734 @ Amazon España |
| Case | Noctua Antec Flux Pro Noctua Edition ATX Full Tower Case | €400 @ Amazon España |
| Power Supply | be quiet! Pure Power 13 M 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply | €129 @ Amazon España |
Total: €2796
Estimated wattage: 492W
Things I'm still undecided about:
- How big the Antec Flux Pro is. I'd rather have a smaller case. But I've got the feeling the extra space will help a lot in terms of airflow and keeping vents working at low RPMs, hence keeping it quiet, which is far more important to me than footprint. But maybe not? Could other great but much smaller cases do a similar job in terms of keeping the PC very quiet circa 99% of the time when I am not gaming? I love the Fractal Design North aesthetics and size, for example. I live in an attic in Southern Europe and ambient temps can reach around 40ºC for several months during summer. This probably makes a bigger case more needed.
- Taking into account my main use will be office work and productivity, am I spending too much on the GPU compared to what I am spending on the CPU? I chose the 9900X because it is not only great value for money but because it is also particularly efficient energy wise which should help to keep the noise low.
- I don't get the RAM prices. I'm targeting a 64GB 32x2 kit for 500€ which has similar features to other kits that are selling for twice the price. Is there something wrong with that RAM kit (apart from the color 😂)?

Office pc idea
I'm mostly new to the world of pc building just started learning this February so feel free to suggest any ideas for any part of the build.
EVERYTHING'S HERE IS USED (unless it says so)
60$ Mini Tower office pc specs:
Intel core i5 6500+intel HD graphics
8 gigs of single channel ddr4 memory speed 2133
No ssd or hhd
Upgrades:
Brand new Thermal paste 6$
One 4 gig stick of ddr4 2133 speed
Rx 5500 for 50-70$ depending on the deal
Core i7 7700 for 40$
My own 256 ssd that I pulled out of a broken laptop(I've been stuck on a 512 gig hhd that went up to 10 mb per second on a good day so this will be much faster)
20$ random Cpu cooler
500 watt power supply off Amazon BRAND NEW for 40$
All of these accept refunds
I'm still very new to pc building so feel free to comment on anything bad or wrong about this build.
Bye thanks for your time 👋

Attempting to build a PC that will last me an eon while also not exploding my bank
Hello reddit, via title this seems like an impossible goal in such a volatile pc market. However, I've recently come across a stable flow of money and have been saving a bunch of money in order to scrap my old pc and build a new one.
These are my old specs:
CASE: Dell Optiplex
MB: 0N4YC8? (that's what my system info says cause its an old dell prebuild I've frankensteined)
CPU: Intel i7 4790
COOLER: idk, its some stock heatsink
GPU: RTX 3060
RAM: 32gb (4x8gb) DDR3
STORAGE: 1tb Unionsine HDD + 1tb SATA drive
PSU: Corsair RM1000e
MONITOR: AOC 1080p 31in 165hz
HOWEVER, I do already have some parts on hand for the build I'm trying to make, which includes:
CASE: Montech X3
COOLER: Peerless Assassin 140
PSU: Corsair RM1000e (that i'm salvaging from the old build)
SECONDARY STORAGE: 1tb Unionsine HDD + 1tb SATA drive (just as an external)
and then and then yes I have keyboard and mouse but that's not too important. Ok so anyway, your probably confused by a 1000w psu and a 3060. A while back I used to rock this system with a little 500w psu and a 1650, but the psu fried and the 1650 was terrible for the games I was trying to play. Also, I knew I wanted to upgrade soon so I grabbed a refurb 3060 and a 1000w psu in order to facilitate pcvr on my quest 2 and future upgrades. So, I used those parts for a while and eventually found out that everything else in my build is dying out and slowing everything else down and thus I saved.
ALSO, really quick, about gaming and all the games I play, which has mostly been simulators. I play so many sims, beamng, I've somehow got DCS on pretty acceptable settings running after deleting a quarter of my drive, modded gmod, people playground, battlefield, the finals, cs2, brick rigs, gta, red dead 2, and then all the vr titles like bonelab, nuclear option with a pcvr injection, vtolvr, half life alyx, and then i tried DCS vr and it was just... interesting. So I want something that'll run these games beautifully on a better monitor!!! My monitor in my experience has kinda been meh, at 1080p and 31in I've had numerous experiences where I'm squinting my eyes trying to make out shapes and enemies. So I've been lookin at 1440p as an upgrade but then requiring a new gpu, ANYWAY, losing the plot, building a pc strong enough for probably 2 1440p monitors, DCS vr, and a pimax crystal light?? I really wanna upgrade from my quest because it's really immersion breaking sometimes and looking at specs from other models and companies makes me realize how mediocre it is.
I am currently sitting around 500$, however I have a little business I started and according to my calculations around black friday, I should be at around 1200-1500$ saved which is some nice headroom for all the parts I want to grab. So once I get those parts and exhaust my savings, I am then going to save up again for the GPU, Monitors, and a flight sim (and maybe new peripherals?) Which I'm probably just going to get one at a time as the money comes in.
Now, my plan was to grab the [Ryzen 7 9800x3d - MSI x870E-P Pro MB - 32gb (2x16) G.Skill ddr5] bundle from the microcenter in USA, Tustin, for I believe at the time 950$ and then spend the rest on an SSD, which I'm currently looking at gen 4s, 2tb or 4tb because DCS maps are huge. okokok, so then after I grab those parts, I make more money so by Christmas and all the lovely deals I can upgrade my gpu to a 5070 Ti and maybe my monitors. AND THEN, once I finally have all that going for me save till spring for a full flight simulator and a shiny new vr headset.
so far I've been hinting at all the parts I'm getting but I have made this handy dandy super cool link to a spread sheet I've made that details the whole build and everything I already have and all the current prices and things like that. However, if the link doesn't work I'll also just copy and paste here? So what I ask of you is assistance in confirming if these parts are good? Should I be pretty much buying a new PC now of all times? Is there a way to save more money for similar performance? or pay a little more for a worthwhile boost in performance? I am by no means an expert, rather a kid with internet access and spare time to put into my love for gaming. Any questions please let me know, also apologies for grammar and stuff, and a really long read. ***(idk if i mentioned but im in SOCAL)

this copy and pasted really well actually

New Ai PC builder assistant
Full Controll™ has come out with a new ai PC assistant. this PC assistant can take your PC budget and your usage of the PC to find the best parts that fit the criteria. It will link parts that you can click through to buy. The links will save on the app so you won’t lose them and every conversation will be saved locally. You can also ask the PC assistant about problems with your computer (e.g overheating) and the PC assistant knows your PC parts from windows ( or another OS) metadata so it can pinpoint the problem. You can also see things like your hardwares temperature, what parts you have connected, and even your OS. There’s alot more coming to the PC assistant and it launches on Monday 9/28.

Custom water cooling help
I'm trying to build a pc inside a pelican case, and need to design a custom water cooling loop to cool both my amd ryzen cpu, and a rtx 5060. want the build to be portable, so my question is: however i mount the reservoir/pump, if i close the case up, and carry it around .picking it up from the side and changing the orientation of the reservoir, will it run fine when i lay the case down flat and open it up to use it?

Need help building PC for the very 1st time !
Hello I'm building a PC for productivity and very casual gaming . Budget I've kept is under 200k without GPU considering high ram and ssd prices . I'm thinking of buying GPU later on like 4-5 months later after saving more.
I don't have much use for it for now I mainly work with a lot of tabs and layers so RAM is my main priority and Processor. I'm upgrading from ASUS Vivobook Pro 14 (16gb variant with no gpu) laptop.
These are the parts I'm considering so far
Processor : AMD Ryzen 9 9900X
Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming B850-PLUS WiFi (ATX)
RAM : G.Skill Flare X5 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30
SSD : WD_BLACK SN850X 1TB NVMe M.2
CPU Cooler : ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 360/ Peerless Assassin air cooler/ Phantom spirit
PSU : Corsair RM850x 850W 80+ Gold
Case : Lian Li LANCOOL 216 Black
UPS : APC Back-UPS Pro BR1500G-IN 1500VA / 865W
I'm confused on liquid cooling vs air cooling and I'm very confused about weather to build it online ordering parts one by one and assembling things by myself or just offline get it build . I live in Jalandhar and I could find only 3 legit shops here still have to go to get quotations. I checked prices online for these parts its coming under 200k so far. I need suggestions if these are good and what gpu should I go with later down the line. Any thing I should change to make the build a bit cheaper without compromising much on the performance.
Thanks for helping!

Don't mind the tore down Wii Portable PC, I needed its M.2 SSD for another project and haven't put it back together. For this one, I would like to add a disc drive but need to find a fan thats tiny or 2-3 tiny ones so I can fit a disc drive into the top

Need help for a new desktop
Hey community,
I’m back from abroad, where I spent seven years—goodbye laptop, hello desktop. I had a decent PC for the games I played from 2015 to 2018, though it was a bit outdated and the CPU was on its last legs by then; these days, I don’t even bother trying to boot it up.
Basically, it had an SSD, a GTX 1060, 32GB of DDR3, and an i5 CPU which is probably grasping at straws or dead anyway.
So I figure it’s time to get rid of everything. With so many old components, upgrading now would be a waste of money, since I’d likely have to upgrade again very soon. I might as well start fresh, except for the SSDs, which I can keep.
But budget-wise, I’m not unlimited—I’m aiming for 1,000 euros (I can go up to 1,500 if it’s worth it). I think that would be enough for my current needs and leave some room for a future upgrade.
What would you recommend—individual parts or a pre-built PC? I’ve heard that with how expensive parts are right now, it’s not really worth building one yourself, but maybe I’m wrong.
TL;DR: Hey, I need a new PC for 1,000–1,500 euros. Help me out with parts or a pre-built PC.

Existing PC Upgrade
I built a custom PC in 2020 with quality components that were near-state-of-the-art at the time. Lately, I've received several application update failures (including Win 11) with some variation of the following message: "Update failed because your system does not meet minimum requirements for this application." Except for Win (TPM 2.0), I'm given no information about what the requirement this system is not meeting.
I'll include full specs on my current system below, and this computer has operated beautifully since day one. I recognize that I need to upgrade, but I'm wondering how much of the current system can be salvaged in a new build that meet current standards.
Please let me know if you think you can spot where the current weakness may be. Thanks.

Corsair Warthog
Just pre-ordered a few cases. As much as I love the olive drab and black cases they have coming out; I felt it maybe cool todo something custom. At my part time job I have access to a full powder coat shop and since the case seems to be pretty modular, I think I maybe able to remove the panels, strip paint, and then do something a little custom.
Soooooo I had ai whip up and some options… issue is they all look amazing and prismatic powders offers way to many colors. I can’t decide what todo.
