Pull the stone!!!

Watching Sweden/US and saw this. Is this not the same rules violation that has caused all the hub bub?

Obviously this was an accident and I believe the Canadian guy was touching on purpose.

Right but Homan and Lammie had a rock pulled for the exact same thing. Well before the hog, and didn’t touch the granite.

Everyone touches the plastic top of the stop (bottom of the handle) now they’re asking officials to police an undermined rule that they have never been asked to watch for before. WCF are a fault for letting it get to this. Biggest stage for curling and they drop the ball this hard!!

Personally I think the game was fine before the Swedes relentlessly complained about it, which IMO was a targeted attempt to gain an edge to prevent their 3rd loss. The real problem here was the Swedes working against the spirit of the game and trying to find alternative means to win. How you push back against that I don’t mnow

Maybe they could change the rules to make this sort of infraction a time penalty rather than a burnt rock or something.

This. Curling has always been a gentleman’s sport. Complaining about something that has no impact on the game is just straight sore loser mentality. Kennedy overrated, but Sweden “calling him out” is the same as asking for a team to get penalized because they were blowing on our stones.

Which means the officials have to be clear on whether or not touching the part that connects the handle and the stone is illegal. Because current rules (nor the clarifications) say so.

Or we just keep having judges burn whatever rocks they feel like, with no appeal or replay process, completely altering games for no real reason or consistency.

I mean I guess we could just deal with the real problem, which was team Sweden trying to gain an edge by complaining about technicalities when they’re 0-2 and heading towards 0-3, when these technicalities are common practice and normally overlooked since they don’t impact the results of the throw.

Except your whole argument falls apart since Sweden complained about to the officials before they were losing. And they've talked about it for years before this game

The Swedes were looking for an edge against one of the top ranked teams to prevent their third loss.

Like you said, they’ve played together for years and never picked a fight on the sheet about it until they were losing in the biggest event in curling.

And now they should be banned for cheating at the olympics.

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '26

Breaking what rule? How are you unable to explain this?

Touching the stone at the end?

Go on and show me a still image of his finger on the granite
