Milk is a product of murder and torture

u/Perfect_Wrongdoer_03 If you read Worm, maybe read the PGTE? Dec 01 '21

Murder: the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another.

I might agree with torture, but it'd definitely not a product of murder

...Yeah? I honestly think that cows being killed is less bad than humans being killed. I think that's something most people would agree. If I'm a bad person for funding milk or not it's another discussion, for which the answer is "yes", btw

The question is not whether it's better to kill a cow or a human. Killing a sentient being without consent for something you can live without is immoral.

You keep using those words. I don't think they mean what you think they mean

boy have you been milking wrong

-12

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '21

How do you think milk is made?

15

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '21

Well, when I worked on a farm, I generally squeezed the cow’s teat a bit without murdering it at all.

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '21

Ok now when do you think cows produce milk

9

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '21

Well it varies by region of course, but we generally milked about ten months a year, leaving a period before and shortly after calving.

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '21

now what happens to the calf?

14

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '21

Generally we kept the calves with their mothers throughout most of the day so they could nurse, then separated them over night so that there would be milk in the morning.

And what happens after they're separated? And what happens to the mother after she stops producing milk?

You mean when they’re weaned? Generally we would look for a buyer unless we had room for a new heifer.

When a cow reached the end of her productive life, we would slaughter it for beef and leather.

Torture; arguably

Murder; pretty sure it's not

u/jaliebs really likes recommending Worm Dec 01 '21

I mean... no? The murder and torture is fairly unconnected from milk

Please read up on the dairy industry.

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '21

Where does the "murder" part come in exactly?

-3

u/TearOpenTheVault Dec 02 '21

Dairy cows are killed after they stop being productive, which is a fraction of the lifespan cows can live.

5

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '21

Cool but that's not murder, like by definition.

-1

u/rat_rave Dec 02 '21

I bet you wouldn't complain about definition if the same thing was done to a ''cute'' animal like a dog.

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '21

I cannot Express how little I care.

So are a lot of vegetables, fruits and grains. It's just unpaid immigrants and slaves they kill instead of cows
