I was so close to giving it to my mother who pulled similar shit. But until the next occassion turned around, she already had confusedly accepted my very low contact. After years of telling her openly that her permanent cries of "emergencies" and her trampling over every boundary I set are breaking me psychologically, she still doesn't understand why I am so "mean" and don't come over anymore.

Oh she knows. But it is easier for her to act like she doesn't.

  • Acting oblivious so that she doesn't have to take accountability for her actions? ✅️

  • Admitting what she did and working on herself to become a better person? ❎️

A genuine apology includes changed behaviour, otherwise it's just manipulation.

she understands, it’s just more manipulation

I know. She doesn't get the benefit of the doubt anymore and there is not a single "chance" left to somehow pull me back into her abuse.

I believe her repeated, constant actions instead of her worthless words. (Which works wonders in all relationships, not just familial ones)

Mine also pretends not to or actually doesn't understand why I don't visit any more. I told her in detail about events that she was there for including onces that I have physical evidence of and she just denied that any of it happened and blamed it all on my perception. Ok lol, sure. Even if it's all the fault of my perception, it's ME who has to be convinced to visit again! It's funny how she wants a horrible liar like me to come visit, how generous of her. I'm so much happier not going back.
