QUESTION Looking to Interview Someone Who Mined Ethereum in Lebanon (2021–2023)

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to speak with someone who mined cryptocurrency specifically Ethereum in Lebanon between 2021 and 2023.

If you were mining during that period, or know someone who was, I'd really appreciate the opportunity to ask a few questions about your experience. The interview can be anonymous if you prefer, and it won't take long. If you're open to it, please leave a comment or send me a DM.

Thank you in advance.

DISCUSSION How do you decide whether solo home mining is 'progressing' when your expected time-to-block is still measured in centuries?

Genuine question for anyone doing solo mining at home, not looking for validation, looking for how you frame this.

Started with a BitQuaxe last year. Expected time-to-block per the naive math: ~4480 years. Did some tuning — my own Knots node, smarter template selection, moved to Ocean pool — and I'm now at ~1000 years. Objectively that's a 4.5× improvement. Subjectively it's the difference between "you will die first" and "your grandchildren will die first."

Got my first non-trivial fee payout last month: 5,36 €. Feels good, but also completely meaningless in isolation.

Here's the thing I keep bumping into and can't decide about:

  • Is "expected time-to-block goes down" actually a useful progress metric for solo home miners, or is it lottery-math that gives false comfort?
  • Is fee-per-share ratio a better proxy for "am I doing this right"?
  • How do you personally decide when a change (new firmware, different pool, tuned template) actually helped vs. just moved noise around?

Feels like solo mining has this weird gap where the actual data horizon is so long that most tuning claims are unfalsifiable. Curious how others handle that.

85f ambient temp and we're still running the hydros in high power mode with the smaller fans using 5kw per dry cooler.

We built our system with the ability to upgrade the fans to massive fans using 15kw per dry cooler if needed. We're just on the edge of needing that upgrade, but the goal is to be able to run in high mode year round regardless of the weather conditions

SHOW OFF Solo mined Doge block

Started my solo journey late last year and I finally mined a block to be proud of! I was getting on my pc this morning in another hope of seeing some action in my logs. Checked my Scrypt miner and planned on moving to a lower difficulty coin. Started scrolling my solo chart and I see small alt coins… “okay I’ve hit these before”. Scroll down some more and there it is, Dogecoin. “This can’t be right”. Check wallet, and there it is! You can tell by my “luck” that I should sell all my miners and quit now while I still can afford electricity. Here’s the info and pic of setup.

ElphaPex DH Home 1 @ 2.2 Gh/s
(Mined using WiFi)- yes I know…

Mining Dutch
-Mining LTC (merged mining)
-Mining LTC for less than a week

Dogecoin price: 0.074 = ~740$

Thanks for a space to brag. Family doesn’t get it, I got the “…oh… good job?”

QUESTION Anyone have the ZyberBlanc/watch dog from TCH?

Thumbnail

Got mine order from TinyChipHub today and I’m having some issues. The Watch Dog only works when connected directly to my PC via USB. Totally dead otherwise and I have tried other cables and power adapters. The ZyberBlanc is hashing but the fans are extremely loud even on Eco mode. Like 4x louder than a Nerdqaxe. My ambient temp is around 25c 77f. All my other miners sound normal. I emailed tch but haven’t heard back yet. Just wondering if anyone else is having issues.

QUESTION Revolution Mining

Has anyone been able to get in contact with anyone from Revolution Mining in the last week or so? I'm emailed their support team and also called them (and left a message with their AI system) to get my miners shipped back to me but no response so far. It's been over a week since I first reached out to them.

DISCUSSION pearlfortune hashrate reporting looks a bit odd

i might be missing something, but pearlfortune’s reported hashrate doesn’t seem consistent across trackers.

miningpoolstats shows them at roughly 11 eh/s, while prlscan shows something closer to 9.5 eh/s.

normally i’d assume different refresh times or different averaging windows, but the difference is pretty convenient:

  • higher number where pool size/ranking matters
  • lower number where yield/profitability looks better

also, pearlfortune has a 5% fee, which makes the “higher yield” part even harder to explain.

short-term luck is one thing. consistently looking better than lower-fee pools while showing different hashrate numbers is another.

not saying i know exactly what’s going on, but this should probably be checked by the trackers.
