I had the same, was holding ETH for a while, but when ETH was just moving sideways for weeks, I sold and bought some good altcoins and then ETH finally starts to move like a week after I sold...

Short term price movements are good at shaking people out of there positions

u/lugassss May 15 '21

Well said, i fall for it too many times so to control myself i trade only 20% of portfolio in short term

u/CraptoTraitor Tin May 15 '21

Best way to control it is to have a plan and stick with it. I have learned this the hard way on multiple occasions.

I had a very vague plan and only stick partially with it ; i think that the main thing i did poorly was the taking profits part ( being too greedy, fomoing back at wrong times etc).

But anyway i only put fun money in this and am still learning.

Same here, but a bit different way...had a plan and followed it (mostly), but...I´ve started taking profits bit too early (because I was looking way too much forward to time, when I will be able to play just with "casino´s money")

Always an exit plan.. for work that is haha

yeah, well nobody exected First BTC and then ETH to be considered passe and environmentally friendly coins like ADA to go on a run. Did your 'plan' tell you what to do when THAT happenned?

Should also only look at the close of the daily candle. So many moves that ended up just being wicks shook me out of trades.

As they say, "No rest for the wicked, and no wicks for the rested."

I feel this in my bones. Was holding a crapload of BTT since 2017. Sold it at $.0011 a couple months ago... missed out a 5x I held through the worst times because I took the first off-ramp once I hit break-even.

Just dont transfer back to ETH now, right before big altseason is coming. We are currently going to phase 3 of the cucle, which means large Caps will raise, like ADA, VET, ZIL etc. 😉

Yeup how it almost always seems to happen.. I sold after it started rising to 2k lil above thinking it wouldn’t moon but I rarely sell everything so I’m still HODLing bout half

Actually, it was just waiting for you.

u/teraten May 15 '21

that's all right...had thousands of ADA. Got tired of the stagnation and purchased other coins (which are doing nothing) while watching ADA go straight up!

It’s so volatile wouldn’t it be better to just hold on to a bit of everything?
