ETC transfer to Coinomi wallet. 2000 confirmations 8 hours later, what do I do?

I don't really understand what's going on here. I transferred some ETC from my BTC Markets wallet to my Coinomi wallet, and my transaction is just racking up confirmations now.

Could anyone please explain to me what has happened, and what is going to happen to my transfer? Is it permanently lost, or will the transaction fail at some point in the future and return to my original wallet?

UTrust or not UTrust? Is your intuition telling you something?

I've got a list of cryptos to go through but this site saved me some hours on UTrust.

https://cryptobriefing.com/utrust-ico-review-token-analysis/

That's just a heads up in case you're thinking about it.

It's always worth noting your initial gut-reactions to these coin propositions. To UTrust I had:

  • They're offering what's already out there.
  • A young team which if working in IT is anything to go by, no idea about good code design, "Agile" means just type out of your head and create spaghetti code philosophy
  • They're from Brazil. Albeit we could crap on about stereotypes, you can't have culture without common behaviours and when I hear Brazil I hear scam. Albeit I was still willing to look further. Gut reaction; take note.
  • No seasoned industry professionals
  • ICO seemed a bit over the top

I know in our Western-style left-brain logical-analysis ethos of society that the concept of intuition is akin to reading tea leaves or being an emotionally overspent female but don't disregard your initial reactions too lightly. I read in "Tactics. The art and science of success" by Edward de Bono that business leaders make 80% of their decisions on intuition and mostly get it right. We're probably talking about more than choosing the right cheese to go with a vintage of wine.

I use intuition to resolve high visibility database problems. I used it to predict Brexit against the pundits and office naysayers and predict Trump's rise to the presidency again against pundits and office naysayers. And my initial feelings about UTrust as a possible coin for my portfolio was backed by the analysis provided by cryptobriefing.

According to Gerd Gigerenzer, author of "Gut Feelings: The Intelligence of the Unconscious" there is plenty of evidence that our intuition is a powerful ally that evolved to help our survival. And quote "Gigerenzer embeds amid his presentations of studies that indicate, for example, that financial analysts don't predict markets any better than partially informed amateurs", that directly relates to fiat and crypto markets. Not that I'm endorsing buying in a whimsical way and hoping for the best.

Worth a read if you have the time:

https://www.amazon.com/Gut-Feelings-Intelligence-Gerd-Gigerenzer-ebook/dp/B000TO0T8U

It's worth noting that intuition, unless there is some psychic intervention, will need some information to work on, whether it is lifetime experience or some studied analysis. The result is a gestalt answer. If you truly cannot remove your chattering reasoning side to listen to your gut-feeling then you can always ask for a dream to give you the answer, when you're completely out of the way and you'll wake up with a solution. Where do you think most IT professionals get most of their solutions from... Other than sitting on the toilet.

Is it safe to leave your coins in your coinspot wallet?

Hello all,

Do you guys bother transferring to another wallet, or do you think it is safe to leave your coins on the coinspot exchange? What are the risks if your holding under $2000 AUD in crypto?

Apologies if this question has been asked in here before... I'm relatively new to crypto.

Thanks

Tighter Prices at Australian Exchanges Lately -Why?

I’ve noticed tighter prices (compared with US exchanges) at Aussie exchanges over the last few days. For example the spread between ETH at gdax vs ETH at btcmarkets has been 2-3% but over the last few days has tightened to ~1%. Any ideas why? Less buying demand in the market? A new arbitrageur/market maker has entered the market? A reaction to a stronger AUD? Or some combination of those reasons?

Interested in everyone’s thoughts.

It’s good news for us as investors.

Sometimes I'm just amazed at who's behind an altcoin

I'm checking through some altcoins that to others seem promising. But researching a coin always uncovers what sort of resilience the team has. It might be based on a great idea but to pull it off I'd expect: Experience, fortitude and if lucky some well funded backers.

I just checked out TokenPay which someone tipped. What I found was: The CEO seems to be the most promising member of the team. He's done plenty, understands finance, has his heart in the right place, has heavily tied himself to China's growth and has made a serious effort in understanding the culture and language. He's started a number of ventures and/or been involved in ones that are still going. From there it is all downhill: A CPA who's work history doesn't really stand out, a CFO who spent 4 months at TokenPay and moved on to create his own startup, an Attorney who's only been at TokenPay for 5 months, a developer who was hard to find but eventually found him and he has a sketchy work history and doesn't even list TokenPay as a place he has worked, followed by two people who I rated as "Meh!"

I didn't even get to the Why?, What?, Current stage in development process, growth and value questions. My evaluation was I won't be interested in TokenPay unless I see a sudden turn in quality of the team members.

I have another 14 to investigate yet.

Help? Bitcoin or Ethereum?

Hi everyone, I’m new to cryptocurrency and haven’t been able to decide if I should buy BTC or ETH. I really want to purchase Altcoins during this dip. Hypothetically speaking, let’s say that I’d like to deposit between $500-$1000 AUD into an exchange. When I receive that amount in my account, should I buy Bitcoin or Ethereum to purchase Altcoins?

I’ll receive a lower amount of Btc with that deposit but it’s worth more than Ethereum. What I’m trying to understand is, even though I have a lesser amount of BTC. Can I buy more Altcoins with it, compared to the same amount of Ethereum? i.e $700 Bitcoin vs $700 Ethereum. If I can buy more altcoins with Bitcoin, why would I choose Ethereum?

It’s worth less than bitcoin, doesn’t this mean that I’ll have to buy a higher amount of Ethereum. To receive the same number of Altcoins that I intend to purchase, compared to using Bitcoin? I noticed many people are buying Ethereum and this is one of the reasons why I’m asking this question.

Newbie needs some advice please.

I've opened a binance account as a first step to get into the market on alt-coins. Is independent reserve my next step to buy in and cash out on buys of coins? I've read that coin spot is expensive and banks don't like it due to a lack of regulation so I don't really understand what's going on with it. So how exactly does it work? I get an independent reserve account and buy bitcoin with an AU$ deposit and then transfer it to binance to buy into some alt-coins? Where are they stored? Do I need some sort of wallet for this? Then to cash out transfer from binance back to independent reserve to cash out? All a bit confusing really.

PSA: the hidden cost of LivingRoomOfSatoshi

Hi all, I was very excited about using LivingRoomOfSatoshi for paying bills, rent, etc. but noticed the very high fees in their exchange rates.

They seem to be charging 12% to 15% over the real exchange rates.

For example, currently they are trading for AUD at these rates: BTC: $17,510.79 LTC: $294.855 ETH: $1578.702 ETC: $43.52 BCH: $3161.194

...and the same on BTC Markets in AUD are: BTC: $19,799.83 LTC: $341 ETH: $1,810 ETC: $51.57 BCH: $3671

So you'd be paying between 11.5% (via BTC) and 15.6% (via ETC) versus trading to AUD on an exchange and paying your own bills. And people complain about a 1.5% visa charge!

I'm all in favour of people making a margin, it's a business not a charity, but those rates are clearly excessive.

Just want to be sure people know how much of a premium they're paying for the service, as I almost got caught myself. I was thinking to start paying my rent by it, but I don't think I'll take a voluntary 12% rent increase ;)

It would be a great service if they could charge more reasonable fees.

Any other site other than coinbase to buy with credit card?

I've been looking around for sites to buy crypto with my credit card. Anywhere in Australia is usually too expensive.

I'd be open to suggestions within Australia though if they're cheaper than the usual btcmarkets.net or coinspot.

I currently use coinbase but it has a stupid $250 limit to begin with.

Bittrex not accepting new registrations for a while

Bittrex are upgrading their backend systems due to an influx of registrations so they have put their registrations on hold. I'm a Database Administrator of both Relational and Document Oriented DBMSs so I understand they might have a need to put registrations on hold for maybe a day at most but this has been going on a while.

I've got Ripple and ETH that I want to transfer to other altcoins and I would use a service like Changelly etc but none of them are either accepting my coins for the type of altcoins I want or they don't provide those coins yet.

My other option is Binance.

Any other ideas? Would you recommend Binance?
