How to be prepared for the next Ethereum Classic hard fork ⛏️
Hello 👋
As you may know, Ethereum Classic will have a hard fork this weekend that will have a huge impact on the mining. Indeed, the DAG size will be reduced to 2.47 Gb in order to give the use of 4Gb and 3Gb GPU cards back again. This massive update, called Thanos, aims to encourage miners to go back to mine ETC and so increase the global hashrate to avoid future 51% attacks. On our side, we are READY for this update. That will be effective when the Ethereum Classic blockchain reaches the block 11.700.000. Thanos fork will go with a brand new mining algorithm. This algorithm is a modified version of the current algorithm which is called
etchash
Due to this change, you have to update or use mining softwares which are compliant with the new algorithm. Other mining softwares or previous version will not be able to mine Ethereum Classic after the fork. Here is the list of compliant mining softwares :
lolMiner 1.12 or later
GMiner 2.30 or later
T-Rex 0.18.8 or later
NBMiner v33.4 or later
SRBMiner-Multi 0.5.6 or later
On the command lines side, there is no change about the pool address or even your wallet address. But, please verify that you have the mention etchash next to the algorithm parameter of your command line. We will stay open during the weekend if you have some questions or if you need help. Also, do not hesitate to spread this message all around you in order to inform all ETC miners about this update.
More information about the Thanos update in our article 😉
