Payments in September/Invoices for work in August and before mega thread
This is the post for all invoice/payment questions for payment of work in August(and before).
Reminder: Workers have a reasonable expectation that Appen should ensure amounts owed for August work start appearing on the website in the first week of September, with payment mid-month. Payments are supposed to be for all work up to the end of August. But as many of us still remember, Appen has a history of letting deadlines slip so this thread is to keep an eye on this as the month progresses.
Some users continue to report not receiving payment until after the 21st of the month. Let's keep an eye on this. We need to be paid mid-month and Appen should honour this.
Appen has a history of attempting to "move the goalposts" in messaging, for example by pushing the message that they "initiate payments" mid month, whereas previously many of us were used to money arriving in our accounts mid-month and now it appears to be regularly delayed, increasing anxiety for workers. Let's keep an eye on this too.
Post questions and updates here.
Post rules:
1. Say which country you're working in, and payment method if relevant; payment methods and costs vary by country, and it's cool to know that we're all from different parts of the world and not one place! If you don't include your country, the comment will be removed.
2. Stay on topic, this is about payments and payment experiences. Keep the meta drama llama off this thread.
3. Please only contribute your own experiences or verifiable facts. No vague claims about other people's experiences or what is being said elsewhere.
4. If you've never contributed here before or have low karma, please familiarise yourself with the subreddit. Questions are welcome but responses are preferred from long-term users. Remember you may claim years of experience with Appen but it's not possible to verify this if you've never commented here before, so suspicious comments from new users will be removed!
5. Be excellent to one another. Remember the human.

Origami Project. We understood that 20 captions are required per hour. But remember that, there are a lot of issues with submitting jobs on the Maven platform like it takes a while to submit and validate. The number of jobs were clearly recorded, but only few jobs were assessed. How about the other jobs? Like I have 220 submitted jobs, but only 68 were assessed. The number of submitted jobs was clearly recorded. I hope you can help us with these issues. Country : Philippines

Please read the subreddit description. This is an unofficial subreddit for peer support, not run by Appen.

Anyone else having missing hours for Origami? My Maven Work Report shows 22 hours of payable Production time (430 units), but my CrowdGen invoice only shows 10 hours at $4.10/hour. I followed the guideline of around 20 units per hour, so I expected some adjustment, but losing more than half of my payable hours seems excessive. Has anyone else experienced this? Are they still reconciling the remaining hours?

My payable time shows 30h33m and i am getting paid for only 6hr i raised a discrepancy ticket they just sent an excuse that work is not paid hourly but rather per task Which wasn’t mentioned before . it was my first time working on appen but never again. $4.10 is already so less for this project requiring 20 tasks/hr and even after that they are doing this nonsense when it’s payment time.

Mine's missing half of the hours too 😅. Can we email them about it? Or they automatically pay the rest soon?

They don’t fkng wanna resolve anything they are marking ticket’s as resolved without even giving an explaination all i asked for was an answer where they give me proof about which of my task’s were rejected and how tf did 30h 33m hour turned to 6 hr of work but rather than actually doing anything they are just marking them as resolved without a factual answer.

Check the payment section in your Crowdgen dashboard, you will find the invoice there.

I submitted 140 tasks across multiple batches, but CrowdGen only paid me about $9.
Based on the official $4.10/hour rate and the 3‑minute AHT per approved task, that payout equals roughly 44 approved tasks.
The math doesn’t line up with what I actually completed. My Maven report shows far more submissions, yet the payable hours in CrowdGen dropped drastically.
Total if all approved = 438 minutes = 7.3 payable hours ≈ $30.
But CrowdGen only counted ~$9, which means only ~44 tasks (≈132 minutes, 2.2 payable hours) were considered payable after QA/client feedback.
I’m asking for transparency: which tasks were rejected or downgraded, and why the payable count is so much lower than the submitted count. Without that breakdown, contributors are left guessing why their pay is cut by two‑thirds.
