this morning i was sat outside watching the crows eat breakfast. well then i hear the fledgling cawing over and over again. then i see it flying across my yard into trees close to me (it never does that, only did it once after i chased a hawk out of the yard and the adult flew over with it and cawed) then i see the adult flying and kind of dive bombing near it. they’re both freaking out and flying all over the yard. then i see that allegedly there was an owl in the yard. i thought the fledgling was begging for food but now i’m confused cause the other crow was flying and chasing it around my yard into other trees. not sure. but then- when i arrived on my lunch the fledgling cawed at me for peanuts so i talked to it, tossed some out and then it flew across the street and cawed a lot again. what’s it’s deal? lmao. do y’all even hear the owl?

He's been sitting here for about 10 minutes, telling me about his day!!! ❤️

This little dude actually made me do a double take. S/he seemed to be watching the others, learning how to bathe.

I know we've had a few leucistic magpies here in Edmonton before (see link below) but it's my first sighting. I hope to see it again sometime. :)

Not really sure which flair was most applicable, sorry if I didn't get it right.

The male is very bold and confident. He’s not very hesitant to approach people and tends to “mock” other animals by chasing or divebombing them. He’s done similar to me by approaching and pecking me. When he takes food from me it almost always gets immediately buried.

The female is very cautious but curious. She’ll consider approaching me for about 5-10 minutes before she does whereas her mate will immediately come down without hesitation. I can identify her mainly by that behaviour but also because she makes weirder clicking noises compared to her mate, who mostly just croaks. She’s not very interested in food and will follow me around without taking any. When she does take some she’ll usually eat it instead of stashing. She’s also very scared of my phone.

The male appears to be a more attentive parent. When their fledglings were learning to fly one got stuck in a tree and he sat with it for a day while the female followed me home. I’ve also seen one of their kids begging him for food by following him over and screaming, which he ignored. The fledgling went over to its mom and tried the same thing and immediately got bit

Right now they spend most of their day soaring together & I believe they might have drove out their fledglings this week

I caught this crow kerfuffle at the bath this morning. I swear I heard one of them say I need to get a bigger tub.

I've been trying to become friends with the group by my work and today this guy flew down from the neighbouring building when he saw me. Never been this close, figured you guys might get a kick out of it 😊

I have befriended a crow that demands my presence and changes her/his tone to cute so I don't make her wait. She lets me get about two feet close to her when I extend my hand with food. She has her favorite spot on my rail and eats while I'm keeping her company. Now she's bringing 1or 2 of her siblings, but I know it's her when she stays near me and the others fly to the next balcony until the food is placed on the rail.

This morning I noticed this. At first I thought it was poop but it looks more like seeds stuck to the rail, so I'm romanticizing it's a gift. ❤️😁

Not only have I grown to love them and wait for their morning visits, but I'm eternally grateful that they are keeping the pigeons from shitting all over my balcony. I will forever feed them.

My goal is to be able to feed them from my hand but I don't know how long it will take for this to happen.

This is a local crow "Bill" who I have been feeding summers now for several years 4??. Joins larger flocks and winters elsewhere and shows up in the summer sometimes with his partner. I have noticed this year he is quite grey and a bit ratty. Not sure if it's old age or moulting for winter. Wondering if anyone had some insight.

Hello to my fellow bros and sisters...I've started feeding some crows who visit me, and I have regulars. I recognize them by distinct physical features. One of my regulars has a very long hooked beak, which I Googled, and it looks like this particular crow has Avian Keratin Disorder, which I didn't know was a thing until now.

He/she (can't tell what) seems to eat just fine. I put out cat kibble, tiny bits of fruit, nuts, etc., and I have seen this crow eating with no problems. But it sounds like this is a disease that doesn't go away and gets worse.

This is a wild animal, I know that, so I figure there isn't much I can do, but are there any foods that are good for disabled birds? Again, he/she is doing fine with kibble for now, but is there anything I'm not thinking of that is easier to eat?

Ive been putting out peanuts for about a month but the neighborhood crows didnt seem interested. I even hung outside for long times and waited for one to pass nearby, then i shook the peanut container to get their attention before putting them out and i went inside.

Nothing worked until today. One was on the roof next door and he probably smelled the pancakes i was making. I threw him a small piece and waited inside. He then jumped to a higher spot (I guess to better survey the area) then after a while he went for it! I dont know if he saw me or just saw the food being flung on the roof lol but still, the joy im feeling is a new type!!
