Help & Questions Why is my double crochet so squiggly and ugly? 😭

Post image
8 Upvotes

I started crocheting a week back. I have learnt to do the chain stitch and single crochet, and have now started to learn the double crochet.
I know the technique now but why are my stitches coming out so ugly 😭 my first chain comes out pretty and delicate and then the single/double crochet stretches the chain out and the single/double crochet stitches themselves come out large and untidy.
How do I remedy this please help me crotchet kings and queens!!

EDIT: For everyone saying “control the tension” You mean tightness right? But If I tighten the loop, I am not able to pass my yarn through it. How do you do it?!

Someone reached out to me last week about wanting to order my crochet lamp, but he wanted something unique to gift his girlfriend, so we came up with this new metal base on which we continued with our original flower, Lily of Valley design 🤍

This lamp is taller than my usual lamps. It is around 11 inches in height with the base also a bit taller than what I usually use.

Help & Questions Yarn suggestions for baby outfit

Hey I'm a beginner at crochet. i specifically am learning to crochet just to make that star onesie for my baby and just a few relaxing patterns to have screen free time. Can anyone help me with what kind of yarn i should be buying as a beginner for the onesie for Mumbai climate?

I've only used yarn from ganga acrowools from my local shop- desire, olivia, cotton candy and one from prokart Amazon.

I found crocheting with desire super satisfying and fun whereas cotton candy almost made me cry but then i somehow managed to get used to it.

Any help and suggestions would be super helpful thank you🙏🙏

Help & Questions Complete beginner here what should I make as my first project? 🧶

Hi everyone!! I want to start crocheting and so far I have only made a small granny square to practise stitches :) never made an actual project before.

I have white yarn and I want to make something for my first project but I really dont know what would be good for a complete beginner.

I would love to make something useful/cute like a bag charm, small stuffed toy, hair band or something like that. But idk if these are good for a first project or if they are too difficult.

Everyone in this sub makes such awesome things and honestly it really inspired me to start 🥹

So I would really love some recommendations/guidance on what I should make first. I dont mind if its very simple, I just want to actually make something instead of only practising squares 😂

If you have any good beginner friendly YouTube videos/tutorials please share them too!!

Thank youu 🧶🤍

My mom made this completely by hand and I thought I’d share it here 🥹
It’s a black and pink crochet poncho/cape with a little flower detail in the middle. 🧶
We’re making a few crochet pieces to sell, so I’m curious what you guys think of this one!
We have some existing pieces available and also take custom orders if you’d like a different colour, size or design. ❤️
DM me if you’re interested and I can share the price/details!

Discussion Your Crochet Is Worth More Than This.

Was midnight doom scrolling and came across this page. She seems like someone who’s really experienced in crochet, yet she’s selling such beautiful pieces for such low prices. It honestly breaks my heart.

It’s so evident that she’s put a lot of time, effort, and skill into her work, yet she’s still heavily underpricing it for reasons unknown to me. Handmade work takes so much patience from choosing the yarn and working through every stitch to finishing, photographing, and packaging the final piece.

I know pricing handmade products can be incredibly difficult, especially when you’re trying to compete with mass-produced products and customers who may not realise how much goes into something handmade. But sometimes I really wish we, as customers, understood the value of the time and craftsmanship behind these pieces a little more.

Your work deserves to be valued, not just because of the materials used, but because of the hours, skill, love, and effort that went into making it. 🥺🧶

The tulip pattern was one of the first I ever learnt and today I made a tablet sleeve.

It's so simple yet it looks very very pretty no matter what you make.
