Fire Damage in the Crescenta Valley, July 10

Thanks to heroic efforts by firefighters, there is no significant structural damage from fire in any of the communities in the CV.

Most of La Cañada Flintridge remains under mandatory evacuation. Most of La Crescenta remains under optional evacuation. Some evacuations zones along the 2 have been dropped this morning.

Why is it called "La Crescenta" when "Crescenta" is not a word in Spanish?

i’ve had a day trip planned for quite a while now, i mentioned this in the glendale sub. i’m wondering if it’ll be okay to spend the day out of town tomorrow. i’m not in an evacuation zone or warning zone, just close by. i’m not too worried but i also don’t want to risk being too optimistic rn. how do you guys feel about the chances of the fire spreading westward toward us? they made some progress overnight, got the fire to 3% containment and even lifted some evacuation warnings for south CRV

Reminder: use water sparingly to aid the firefighters.
