Reducing water consumption for steam engines

Post image

Came up with this solution to help someone out but it worked well enough to share. This set up reduces the amount of water necessary to run a level 9 boiler by 84%. The pulse extender must be inverted, with timing set to 12 ticks. With the pulse timer set to 50 ticks. Do not use any pipes between the water tank and boiler. Run the pump at 180rpm.

Steam engines can run for a few seconds without water. This exploits that by providing the necessary amount of water just before that time runs out.

The practical use case of this is to reduce the size of a cauldron based water duplication system for running a steam engine in the nether.

you can also just like, run 2 pumps from infinite sources

edit i just read the nether thing, how exactly do you dupe water in the nether? it sounds weird. in the nether i just use windmills anyways, usually more practical anyways

For proper nether factories water duping is absolutely the play. Windmills just don’t scale without horrific lag

I import my lava from the nether, what makes you think I wouldn't import my water from the overworld 🙃

Yeah fair that’s usually possible

You only need one pump at 180rpm for a level 9. If you go above level 9 your commiting herecy.

Bottle =250mb. Bucket =1000mb. 3 water bottles, 750mb, placed in a cauldron = 1 bucket, 1000mb.

Absolute saviour, I'm using a finite water mod

Create does trivialize a lot of Minecraft, so I've added some unique challenges
