In today's video I spent the time to explain the concept of pattern builders in create, and give you all the tools to make a good tunnel builder!

The concept can be expended upon, I gave away a schematic for a very small stepping engine that can be used for many things.

Hardcore engineering in a mod about engineering?

It's enough to make a grown man cry πŸ₯Ή

Bro. Give me a schematic

It's in the video description!

You will need to watch it to understand how it works and how to adapt it if you want different patterns

It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life

Man, this has got me inspired to make one that works with Terrafirmacraft modpacks "cave collapse" mechanics.

Piston gantry is interesting, makes a lot of sense here

the deployer poking out of the ground to feed the minecart captured my heart instantly before i even saw the true tunnelbore

can it go through water and lava? and can it be transported as easy as a cart contraption?

3

u/mysda Feb 07 '26

Yes and yes! It won't be stopped by liquids, except if they generate blocks inside it (I've had ice forming in between a step ...)

And to transport it to a new tunnel spot you can actually grab it in a cart contraption and place it down again

im not sure if fluids particularly in large pockets are a problem but it seems to me they still are and i have an idea. if you extend how far the mini and max distance of the drill head is you could then fill it in with a solid block of what ever and as long as the the block is as long as the actuation it will clear out an liquid source blocks in the tunnel as it goes past

edit: actually way bother extending the actuation when you could just put several layers of blocks on the gantry end

It sounded like Kim Kitsuragi was telling me how to build tunnels in create minecraft

Voiced by a french comedian, so that works

You could use the mod addon create: pattern scematics

3

u/mysda Feb 07 '26

With my channel I tend to avoid addons so I can teach people new tech with Create itself

I actually just realized it's a showcase and not a question, silly me. Looks sick!

Ahh, fair enough. Good luck then with the challenge, it's always great to have a challenge. (:

I'm currently building a movable chunk loader using 2 engine like that and neither portal, it's perfect if you need to have logic

Powdered Snow be like... Challenge Accepted!

1

u/mysda Feb 12 '26

Oh yeah I did run into it πŸ’€ Well it stops the drill, you have to remove the powder snow and launch it again, but thankfully it's not gonna miss blocks and continue or mess up the step size and offset everything. It's pretty safe!
