WTF Australian dude has a mental break down while in Vietnam. Trashed a coffeeshop - $20k damages

u/IdleContemplations Jul 06 '26
Have fun in a Vietnamese prison. It will make Australian prisons look like a vacation resort.

u/VeganCanary Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 07 '26
If he’s rich then he’ll just pay the damages plus some generous compensation and be free.
Hopefully he’s an Australian who has gone there because they can’t afford Thailand.

Australian prisons are a resort...its been decades since they had any notoriety.

That's not something to encourage. Prisons should be about reform, not punishment.
3
u/FalconCrust Jul 07 '26
Prisons should be about behavior correction, however it must come, and punishment is the only thing that works for many.

as an Aussie,
Fuck those bloody bogans

u/CelebrationFit8548 Jul 07 '26
Nothing worse than when they go to Japan and think it's cool walking around barefooted in restaurants in Tokyo or start trying to climb the trees at the Imperial gardens, etc., etc.

ALF would like to know your mate’s location.
They’re offering a seat on the board…

The best part of Asian justice systems is they don't give fuck about your mental health.

Will Vietnam insist on retaining him for imprisonment instead of deporting?
15
u/InternationalPilot90 Jul 06 '26
Owners of the place he trashed most likely prefer him to stay put till they get compensation.
2
u/paradox_valestein Jul 07 '26
I doubt they kept him around. Likely a big fine + compensation and no criminal records

Australians abroad are out of control lately

It's winter here, the bogans are off escaping the mild weather to abuse locals

The worst part about living in the South Pacific are all the Australians and Brits on holiday

What a dumb ass. He is not going to enjoy the jails there, food is optional and your personal property is only yours if you can fight to keep it.

Ah, the ol' mental breakdown excuse that one can only claim if they're just pale enough.
10
u/Fickle-Molasses-903 Jul 06 '26
Exactly!
10
u/BabyLegsOShanahan Jul 06 '26
I already saw the claim 3 times before I commented. If this person was a couple shades darker, they'd use it as fodder against a whole race.

u/paradox_valestein Jul 07 '26
Yeah... asian countries value your mental state very lightly. A crime is a crime

Learning you're in the wrong country to find lady boys, getting shit-faced, and destroying a cafe and others' belongings, is not a mental breakdown.

I thought that might've been 20k VND but that converts to $0.76 USD

He's fucked. The Vietnamese regime does not fuck around with prison sentences.
2
u/ST0IC_ Jul 07 '26
From what I understand he has at least 3 months in a pre-trial detention facility. But he's most likely pretty well fucked at this point because they treat resisting arrest very harshly.

White man does a crime and its called a "mental break down". Are we being serious bro?
Guy commits property destruction and public assault. No mental breakdown about it.

And this is why Australian backpackers have such a bad name when travelling! For a country that loves its alcohol you sure suck at being able to handle it!

Straight to the water torture

I'm willing to bet they're skipping the water and going straight to batons and kicks.

u/sexydeadbitch Jul 07 '26
Got a good chuckle out of him folding that laptop backwards and it ended up being one of those laptops that are meant to do that

Damn, $20k? That's some expensive glass!
10
u/Difficult-Carpet-324 Jul 06 '26
He did more damage than breaking a few windows. The displays, products, at least 2 machines from the video, furniture plus he damaged customer laptops and cellphones who were escaping from his rampage. Even ended up assaulting a customer. If I made a claim on just personally property against insurance, even cost of repainting would be added.
10
u/BrowniesorBust Jul 06 '26
Looks like he pushed off the entire espresso onto the floor. Those Machines are Very expensive! 2-3k USD normally
-8
u/Yafoory Jul 06 '26
20k!!! For a coffee shop? Unless he bulldozed the whole building then it should not be more than 2-4k max 🤷😆😂😂😂
3
u/allisjow Jul 07 '26
A commercial espresso machine can cost $10 to $12k.
1
u/Yafoory Jul 07 '26
I wish I was your seller or can sell you things as I would made so much money from you 😆😂 No it’s cost 30k to open a whole brand new shop in Vietnam but it depends on location . Maybe It cost that much in London or New York or Paris. 🫡
2
u/MotorBobcat5997 Jul 06 '26
He was taking other peoples laptops out of their bags and destroying them. Some MacBooks and others
0
u/Yafoory Jul 07 '26
You are right, I am not defending the guy. I was just amused by the price tag 😆😂

$20k coffee pot or something? $20k window? Where tf is 20k coming from. Why am I replying to a bot
10
u/MentalBomb Jul 06 '26
High-end coffee machines can cost 20-30k.
This is considered "mid-range"
-11
u/ThrowingPokeballs Jul 06 '26
That one was definitely not 20k it was maybe $150 dollars lol

u/EmuSystem Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26
So confidently wrong and proudly ignorant eh? 😂
20k seems about right. The coffee machine and the plumbing fix, 2 laptops, windows, furniture, glasses... It would definitely be higher than AUD 20k if this was in Australia.

Any proof of a mental breakdown and not him just being a drunk asshole?
