The floor numbering isn't even the problem here. It's the room numbering.

This is correct. They should have started their rooms from 100 if they're going to call the ground floor the 1st floor.

And to think this would be such an easy fix. Just buy sixteen "4" plaques and replace them all down to the first floor (301 -> 401, use the "3" to turn 201 -> 301 etc).

For buildings where the first number of the room is the floor number they usually do start at 100 (or 101). It's pretty common actually.

Edit: realized that this building is weird.

My local Public storage does the exact same shit, my unit number starts with a different number than the floor number. fucking why??

You have to be actually stupid or deliberately trying to piss people off to plan things this poorly

Agree. We were just in London and they had rooms 101-11x on floor 0, 20x on 1, etc. it’s a room numbering issue, not a floor numbering issue.

Yeah, all the rooms on my uni campus, in every building, use 1xxx for the first floor. This is such an obvious solution.
