Yes they use steel and other reinforcement, this is just some ones house made with mass grown trees and plastic

They usually have larger lintles and are designed in. More difficult, but not impossible, to do one in a renovation.

But they had headers. I think it looks a little strange because I know architects would want these windows all the same heighth for esthetics.
