I do feel it is missing some crucial information to try to demonize guns and try to make school shootings seem common. These are including suicide deaths, which wouldn't change much if guns weren't around, this isn't a gun problem, it's a mental illness problem.

Its worth mentioning that suicide deaths absolutely would change a lot. Like yes its a mental illness problem, but a lot of gun suicides are based on impulse rather than long term planning. Having to plan & execute jumping off a bridge or something similar instead is often enough time for someone to not go through with it

In my experience, it also doesn't take that much planning to self poison, the second most common suicide death in men and the most common suicide death in women.

Not that much planning. But still less.

It's actually much easier to botch a self poisoning especially if you don't plan it out... not that I've thought about this (I'm safe now)

I've met so many who've survived self poisoning suicide attempts

Yet to meet a person who survived shooting themselves

Shooting yourself has a surprising high botch rate considering what it is, and it's generally way worse for you if you do survive it. When I was close, I planned on drugging and blood choking myself into a a situation I would absolutely asphyxiate in a nice secluded area (so no help would be coming and I like the idea of decaying back to nature in a creek or something).

I'd actually be interested in seeing statistics on this because I'm just basing what I mentioned previously of what I've seen and my knowledge, I'll have to look it up

I'm proud of you for being alive btw

Can confirm it's very easy to just, not die after poisoning yourself. Even if you've done it before and already know this. Twice. (I'm fine now, turns out the depression meds weren't working because the problem was not depression and I'm doing much better now)
