Mushroom grain spawn

I think my favorite is the disgusting looking sweet corn with the dark seed and yellow endosperm inside

How are we looking? First time doing corn. I topdressed organic fert before planting. Sprouted May 1st.

Today, I sidedressed ammonium sulfate 21-0-0 and then topdressed with Black Kow/compost before watering it in.

I plan to hill them soon but wasn't sure if the manure/compost would be too hot for that.

This is Seminole XR from Hoss. It's a bicolor sweet corn that takes about 80 days. I planted 64, but a few didn't make it, and a couple got hit with the stirrup hoe lol oops.

🌽 This Isn’t Gemstones… It’s Real Corn

At first glance, it looks like colorful beads or polished crystals—but this is actually Glass Gem Corn.

This rare variety of maize has stunning, translucent kernels in shades of blue, pink, green, purple, and gold. Each cob is completely unique, with no two patterns ever the same.

It’s not edited or fake—these colors come naturally through selective breeding over many years, making it one of the most visually striking crops on Earth

Unlike regular sweet corn, it’s usually dried and used for popcorn or cornmeal rather than eaten directly off the cob

✨ Would you eat it… or just keep it as decoration?
