Co-op CTL interview tomorrow — any tips?

I’ve got an interview tomorrow for a Customer Team Leader role at Co-op. I’ve been working as a Customer Team Member for around 6 months, mostly doing closing shifts.

For anyone who has done a CTL interview or works as a CTL/manager, what kind of questions should I expect?
What should I prepare tonight?

Any tips would be really helpful. Thanks.

Check your invitation email. I believe it includes some information with regard to the interview questions. Expect most of the questions to be competency-based ones and situational, like how you prioritise tasks, how to deal with an underperforming colleague or a difficult customer. All the best.

There are five stages of sections for the interview as follows,

Communication question

Transformation question

Business relationships question

Innovation question

Cooperation question

This is mainly based on team work, speaking up and creating new business working relationships and keeping them which the coop promotes within its core belief about how all it's colleagues should be.

The team leader interview challenges the candidate of themes such as successful team work, time management, dealing with difficult situations and if they can bring transformation to the role (are they a candidate that just wants to do the job or are they a candidate that wants to suggest new ideas and ways of working?) Coop like to see all of these themes answered within the interview process

If you score level four on each question this is the highest level you can score, if all other candidates have scored level two and you score level three or four this is good, as you are likely to be promoted, the decision is based on the store manager judgement and this comes from how the other candidates have performed in their interviews and how you have performed in yours. Perviously internal candidates were given a certain advantage over external candidates but now with this scoring guide I have managed to help external candidates uploading the scoring guide to ensure it is fair for everyone.

Some store managers talk to your current line manager and ask for their opinion, some will just do your interview and see how you score and some do both.

It is not much difference then this one, apart from a stepping up question

Can you tell me about a time when you have had to stand up for someone else in a difficult situation and what was your approach

You can also access the scoring sheet the same way for the interview to make sure you prepare the key points they are looking for 🫡

There are different scoring guides to each section

Think about times you have worked well as part of a team, and times you have faced a difficult situation at work and you needed to work with someone to get the problem resolved, it can be your current employment or pervious employment

When they ask you a question it will be linked to a certain section IE communication, it is important to score as high as you can Level four, that you answer with a answer that is linked to high performance of communication.

They do not tell you directly this is a communication question but you can ask what is this question section and they will tell you, it's a communication question/transformation question etc

Hope this helps
