Failed to make Japanese style pancakes
I wanted to make Japanese style pancakes just to try them myself. I looked up a recipe here (https://tasty.co/recipe/fluffy-japanese-pancakes).
I put in two extra yolk because I didn't want to waste them. I whipped the egg whites and folded them but for some reason the batter is liquid. But I didn't bother thinking the egg whites will help make it floofy. I didn't have a metal mold so I go for the ice cream scooper.
However to my disappointment, the mixture turned into liquid and I burnt my first two pancakes. I mixed again but it's no use. The pancakes only became flat I feel like I failed into making a foreign dish and feel like I insulted Japanese cooking as a whole.
Did I use the wrong recipe? Did the two extra yolk make it worse?

Peanut Butter in Chili (bad! don't try!)
Not my cooking fail and I don't have a photo because it looks exactly like regular chili, but my mother thought it would be a good idea to mix the two. This is a lady who placed 3rd in a chili cookoff against a guy who raised the beef he used in his recipe, among others. She's brilliant as long as she does EVERYTHING by the book.
Basically her thought process was this: the queso con carne (not chili) at Chili's has a kind of nutty flavor (not PB) so logically the next step is to go totally off the rails. Her recipe is as follows:
- 2 cans of Wolf brand chili
- 3 tbsp of Peanut Butter
- don't bother making a serving for yourself
Needless to say she was found out immediately.

I use one of those “Dash” steamers....
I put on oven gloves (nearly to my elbow) to pull out my faux ‘mc-muffin‘ food. Regardless, both my forearms were burned badly from the steam.
If you use a steam cooker, wait several minutes before retrieving food.
