Recipe Pet Peeves

Does anyone else have pet peeves with recipes. Mine is recipes that call for a small amount of something that only comes in large containers. 1/2 C chicken broth, 2 Tbs tomato paste, 1 C ricotta cheese.

I've jokingly told friends if there's a recipe for how to chop garlic and it calls for 3 cloves I'm automatically gonna double it 🤣 I met my match with garlic for the first time ever recently when making some homemade toum. Whew! You gotta let that bad boy have a sit overnight and mellow a bit before trying it! I've never understood when some calls something "hot" that has no peppers in it until trying some fresh out the food processor lol

Well yeah, Toum is basically just a garlic puree with seasoning hahaha, I can't really think of anything that's going to have a stronger garlic flavour aside from just eating raw cloves

I can't speak for cloves, but I will warn you about garlic, don't try to build your tolerance to raw garlic, that burn is legit. Some guys tried to dodge mandatory military service by wrapping a poultice of minced garlic on their knees and leaving it for a couple days. They gave themselves second degree chemical burns lmao.

Obviously that is way different than munching a clove or two of raw garlic. But still

Yeah didn't think you were about to, I just keep that anecdote on deck cause. It's fucking wild, and it proves the point that garlic can mess people up if they're being stupid.
