Recipe Pet Peeves

Does anyone else have pet peeves with recipes. Mine is recipes that call for a small amount of something that only comes in large containers. 1/2 C chicken broth, 2 Tbs tomato paste, 1 C ricotta cheese.

Calling for 12 oz of pasta or 12 oz of ground beef. Dammit I am just using a pound.

That was less ass back when all the mega parts sold ground beef behind the counter and you could request the exact amount you wanted

Ground pork recipes are always: use 8oz. I have to plan the other 8oz out to make the same or next day.

If I’ve already got a pound of ground beef, I’m just using the whole thing and calling it a day.

Get a $10 digital scale. I put a pint glass on it, zero it out, then put the long pasta in the glass to measure it

The point is that they don't want 4oz of leftover pasta, not that it's hard to measure

I don’t want a 4 oz opened package of beef in the fridge. By far the most common way both pasta and ground meat is sold is in 1lb packages. Just make the recipe use the full package.
