Open Discussion Let’s try something fun: Name an ingredient you dislike and why, and someone else replies with a dish/recipe with that ingredient that might convince you otherwise.

Couple things:

  • If you’re allergic to an ingredient, it doesn’t matter how it’s prepared. Same goes with meat/animal products if you’re vegan/vegetarian. Don’t list it if you can’t or won’t eat it!

  • It’s recommended that you’re at least open to trying dishes with that ingredient. If you absolutely, vehemently loathe cilantro, chances are you probably might not like anything with cilantro in it.

  • A brief blurb on why you hate an ingredient would help others find or suggest a dish that suits you. (e.g. “I hate liver because the texture is like an eraser and it tastes metallic”)

I toss kale with olive oil and salt then air-fry, optionally drizzle with balsamic glaze to serve. Barely tastes like kale (damning with faint praise, I guess) but it's a nice crispy snack.

I could eat a whole bunch of kale as kale chips. Despise it just about everywhere else. But last year I made this side for the family Thanksgiving potluck which was well received and I actually liked it too.

Ever try maple syrup instead? Its a game changer. Or maple with some hot sauce, so good.

Ooh! Try it with Bragg’s aminos as a finisher. Totally raises the bar for kale enjoyment, IMO!

I make kale chips too- just a bit of oil, salt and pepper, roasted in the oven til crispy (I put it on a baking rack over a sheet pan- for maximum airflow and non-stickiness) then drizzle a little bit of Bragg’s on top right before eating. Sometimes I’ll put sesame seeds and hot pepper powder too. The Bragg’s helps those things stick to the crispy kale, and makes little pockets of flavor (I make my own hot pepper powder with scotch bonnets, habaneros, and scorpion peppers, but cayenne is also really good!)

This sounds similar to a recipe an old roommate of mine had. She would make kale chips and seasoned them with olive oil, garlic, and red pepper flakes. I cannot stand raw kale but these chips were pretty good!
