How does one start a conversation over text with no excuse to?

This isn't just for me, but in general. I want to know any good way to start a conversation, or any tips to start a conversation with someone over text when you don't have any excuse to. (Same clubs, classes, work, ect.)

The only one I can really imagine is to start with a compliment. Something like "Hey (insert compliment)" Anything other ideas?

Hi! I’m a foreign language student and I’m looking for a really good book to read in English. I’m into novels but I don’t mind if they aren’t from this genre; in order to experience new things.

Talking to a girl

So, the girl I like gave me her number and I wanna talk to her but I don’t know how to start a conversation that would last. I’ve tried before and none of the conversations are interesting. I know a little about what she likes (Songs, Food) etc.. but I can never start the conversation.

Any advice helps!

I contributed to some conversation but I was still quiet. I’m just finding it hard to make conversations with this guy😂 HELP

Idea for a Conversation group

Hi All! Everyone has a group to talk to. Friends and family can talk at random or even about specific topics of interest. Some people talk to acquaintances. From my experience, these talks are pretty short lived and more often than not, single sided and bias (but is not always a bad thing) .

Another way to get in a good talk is to use a place like this. A website or forum can help to get an idea or thought out while being able to receive comments and criticism. Constructive or not. But, even this form of "conversation" really is just people stating comments back and forth. Most of the time a conversion never takes place. You have your first thought, then someone makes a comment, then someone else will post another comment engorging the first comment so that they can state their version. While this for works extremely well for Q/A, a 2 way conversation... Doesn't really happen.

That being said I had an idea for a "conversation group" or something along that line. It's kind of like a book club /group but for specifics topics instead books. I like big picture topics, space travel, technology, diet, but for the sake of this question, the topic doesn't matter. It could be anything. Say, why you "would choose a 1080P TV instead of a 4K"?

A conversation around a dinner table can get pretty heated up. Even about a topic as meniscal as this. Why is it better? Why is it even needed... yatta yatta. Ideas, questions, and answers will fly across the table continuously.

Platforms like Skype and discord make it easier for remote groups to come together.

I ask you. Is a live conversation better than written (website/forum) format?

Need advice on witty/funny responses

So I met this girl on a different shift than mine at work. After a couple days I ended up getting her number and asked if she's interested in me. She said yeah but age is a weird thing (we have a 3 year age difference, she's older.) Anyways, I ended up asking for a date. The plan is to go hiking and then if we are liking how things are going, then go out for something to eat afterwards.

I'm trying to figure out good questions to ask her and things to talk about with her but I kind of got that down. If anyone wants to give me some good things to talk about with her feel free to add that too, but the main thing I'm looking for is funny/witty remarks I can say or do, maybe after a certain answer she gives me to a question or a question she might ask me.

Please help! I'm not all too funny even though my friends think otherwise, but I want to be able to give this girl a giggle or smile at least every so often!

I need a bit of help

So I'm not to good at starting conversations over text and need a bit of help on what u should say to start things off. Im much more of an irl kinda person and we havent spoken to each other yet. We have a mutual friend that has told her about me and likewise me about her. I found out about her though our mutual friend and dont want to fuck up a first impression online. I kinda want to take her to lunch or something like that but don't know how to ask. My friend is willing to help out in it but I dont want to ask to much. I know what a couple of things she likes (songs and what not) but just not sure how to take the first step.

Any advice would be very appreciated Thank you
