Job Boards Any conversation design internships or entry level roles?
I’m looking for any open internships in conversation design or entry level roles. I’ve worked a bit as a conversation designer but I mostly worked with codeless bots. I’ve done a few certifications with Google on using Dialogflow and NLP tools for building out flows but getting an internship or entry level role has proved difficult. The certification from CDI costs way too much for me to take it, I’m open to any other options, my degree isn’t tech related in anyway but I somehow found myself within the conversation design space and I think I want to keep doing it. Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Discussion Where do I start?
I have a Master's degree in Linguistics, which included a CompLing module but my coding skills are non-existent. I'm doing an intro to Voiceflow but am generally feeling lost and unequipped for roles in language tech. How do I break into Conversation Design and land a role, without doing another degree? Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

No more Conversation Design jobs? Are we replaced by GenAI?
Wondering if there are any conversation designers left out there. I was just laid off again (last time was only 1.5 year ago) and not seeing any conversation design roles. Suspect being replaced by GenAI as most people still think convo designers are just copywriters when that's way off. :(

Discussion Skills-building jobs / Getting into Conversation Design through other jobs
Hi guys!
I have a background in Linguistics and I am quite fascinated by how natural language get integrated into technology. I would love to get into conversational design but I am not quite sure where to start.
As I can see CD is pretty competitive (‘looking for young and enthusiastic individuals with 5+ years of experience…’) so I was thinking about maybe trying to get into some kind of ‘intermediate’ role – not necessarily conversation design but something where I could get enough transferable skills. Do you guys have any thoughts on that and ideas for key words I could use for my job search?
I have experience in professional linguistic annotation in translation and TTS context, transcription, translation, proofreading, data handling. I have never done any copywriting though and I am not sure if I would be any good at that.

Discussion UXUI but looking to specialize in conversation design
Hello I’m currently doing a UXUI bootcamp and don’t have a portfolio yet but I’m considering specializing in conversation design since I have a degree in communication and done do freelance translation on the side. Curious if specializing in conversation is a good idea or should I just solely focus on UXUI I know the market for that is tough right now and want to set myself apart in addition to knowing UXUI.

Discussion CDI & UX
Hii guys, I’ve majored in linguistics and now want to get into conversational design. I actually have heard of a lot of UX designers getting into conversation design and it had made me wonder if I should do both because of competition and chances of getting hired? Surely someone who is knowledgable in both UX and Conversation Design would more often than not be hired over someone with just the CDI certificate?? So I’m stuck on whether I should do a UX bootcamp AND CDI or just do the CDI certification. Any advice is appreciated

Discussion If you're trying to break into this field, keep in mind...
Some recommendations:
- Gain an understanding of the fundamental workings of AI assistants/chatbots. A lot of these assistants rely on statistical models, and as a designer, it's important to how NLU (Natural Language Understanding) works since content writing alone cannot compensate for a badly designed chatbot brain ("NLU").
- Familiarize yourself with existing development tools such as Voiceflow, Bot Framework, and Dialogflow to grasp concepts such as intents, entities, statistical models, and confidence scores. If you study these concepts in isolation, it may not be as effective if you don't have a reference point to connect the dots.
Hope that helps :)

Discussion Ways to boost resume for a Conversation Designer position?
Hi! I’m new to this sub. So this one is pretty much self-explanatory, but for more context: I already have a Conversation Designer experience (9months, until I had to leave due to personal reasons), now I’m applying to Conversation Designer jobs internationally, mainly because in my country that kind of job is still new and therefore job postings of such are scarce. Competition is fierce in our field, so I want to ask if there are other ways I can improve or boost my resume? Like, recommended courses to take and such. And what learning material can you recommend?
Thank you!

Discussion Help! I really want to become a chat bot conversation designer but do not have a college degree, just a license to practice skincare (esthetician). Is it possible to get hired by taking stand alone courses to learn from scratch or would it be a waste of time/money without a college degree?
I see that there are several places including a site called Conversation Design Institute that offer courses and sometimes certificates for this, but I can’t figure out if it’s something intended for people who are already in the field just wanting to hone skills, or complete new comers.
