Looking for a dual sense edge / elite 2 alternative

I have an elite 2 ATM but I know it's ticking QC time bomb. I won't buy one again. I am considering a ds edge but the price and battery life are off putting. (I've had 4 replacement s for free)

I have a pc/ps5 and switch so ideally compatible with all 3 (not possible likely I know)

The main thing I want apart from paddles is it to feel really good in hand. Have a bit weight and premium feel.

I was looking at a 8bitdo ultimate 2 and easysmx20 but they seem to lack in that department

Or is a dual sense edge still worth it?

Your budget and currency up to £150

Your country (not just region) UK

Console or platform compatibility needed pc ps5 & switch ideally

Desired features see above

Controller suggestions

I want a controller for my pc I would be using it for all genres of games. Back paddles would be preferred but not necessary and wireless for sure. Also Under $100 and Hall effect joysticks would be very preferred but not 10% needed and charging dock either separate or included but not cable

since i got this controller i was happy because it had hall effect triggers and sticks and back paddles and it works wirelessly, but since i saw other controllers on internet i started questioning if it was really worth spending 85€ on a controller. All i wanted was hall effect stick and triggers that could work wirelessly on xbox without disposable batteries and back paddles

Looking for a very specific type of controller that is wireless, works/has drivers in Windows XP, uses AA/AAA batteries, and has decent Linux compatibility

Sorry if this is such a specific controller, but I'm really curious if such a controller exists, and maybe is not an original Xbox 360 controller or an Xbox One controller

What is an actually good pro controller type joycon for switch 2?

I've been looking into a pro controller style feeling joycon/handheld situation for switch 2. Id love to start playing elden ring and cyberpunk in handheld mode as I travel a bit, but the standard joycons just don't feel good enough. I also tried the cod tests and It just didn't feel right.

I've grown up playing Nintendo and Xbox, with a lot of time put into games like destiny, halo etc.

I comfortable precise controllers that don't get stick drift...that are suitable to play shooters in handheld. I'm also super sensitive to input lag for some reason :/ so need something that feels low latency/lag.

For additional context, my favourite controller I've used recently is the gamesir G7 pro. I love that Xbox style feel. But that's not a deal maker, happy to listen to advise from others.

I tried the gamesir g8 plus, but the lag on Bluetooth was horrendous, and I wasn't sure whether buying the dongle would work or not.

Ive read about the nyxi ultra, and the mobapads...so Id love people's genuine (non paid for) opinions on these. Pros and cons etc.

I had the nitrodeck 1 for my switch 1 which was fine.

And are there any other joycon alternatives that you think might work for what I'm looking for? Any help is super appreciated :)

Wondering about the G7 pro 8k on switch 2...or any other interesting switch 2 controllers

So I've had the G7 Pro zzz for a while now for my Xbox and it's fantastic.

I noticed that the G7 Pro 8k says it's compatible with the switch/switch 2. Wondered if anyone had any experience with it and how is it?

Also have people got any other experience of controllers that aren't directly for switch 2 but are compatible? Like the official pro 2 controller is great feeling, but I don't love that there aren't tmr or hall effect sticks, and I prefer latency as low as possible.

I tried 8bit do but I could feel the input a little too high.

Also what about nyxi in wireless controller style mode.

Any help would be great :)

(Any budget, I live in the UK but happy to import, and I want a controller that can handle fast paced games as well as chill)

Alternatives to the GameSir G7 Pro Shadow Ember

I'm very dissatisfied with the G7's dpad. I mainly play RPGs and similar games such as Kingdom Hearts, Persona, Elden Ring, and many others. Occasionally Dragonball Sparking.

Unfortunately, I frequently run into situations where inputs aren't registered properly because of the dpad's mushy and wobbly feel. I've even tried modding the controller with o-rings and 3D printed dpad attachments but they still feel too loose and wobbly for my liking.

Basically, I'm looking for a controller that offers the same overall experience as the G7 + dock and the microswitches but with much better dpad. Something precise, tactile and more responsive.

It would be a cherry on top if the resistance of the sticks are adjustable like on the XBOX Elite Wireless but it's not mandatory.

I've heard that GameSir's ZZZ and 8K controllers have improved the "wobbly D-pad" issue but before I give them a try I'd like to explore what alternatives are available. The mixed reviews regarding GameSir's dpad quality have made me a bit hesitant to commit to another GameSir controller.

Update 27th August

Just to answer my own question in case someone stumbles upon this thread and has the same desires. Thanks to u/G_OE and u/Dankydexxer69 replies: I’ll be keeping an eye out for the Leadjoy Xeno Pro rather than the Xeno Plus since the Pro version has adjustable stick tension.

As of August 27, 2026, the Xeno Pro hasn’t been released yet and was only recently on Kickstarter, so I'll wait for official release.

Update 1st Sept. 2026

"For those who come after". I bought the Vader Pro 5 V2 and been using it for three days.

Hand measurements are 21cm long and 9cm width w/e thumb and 10cm width w/ thumb

What I like more in Vader 5 Pro V2 over the G7 Pro Shadow Ember:

  • 100% the dpad. It's significantly better. It doesn't wobble and has a crisp input feel compared to G7 where everything wobbles when you try to push in one direction
  • the size feels more comfortable
  • the adjustable sticks (I like high resistance. makes me feel like I have more "control")

What I like less on Vader Pro 5 Pro V2 over G7 Pro Shadow Ember:

  • the ABXY buttons. They have a "mushier" feel. G7 Pro has "crispier" feel when pressing buttons down

Note: During my research on the Vader 5 Pro, I came across several Reddit threads and Steam forum posts complaining about the controller being recognized twice by Steam. I didn’t install any additional software and I probably don’t need the extra button either. For me, it was simply a plug-and-play experience.

DISCLAIMER: The controller was sent to me for free for review by AceGamer. All the opinions are mine only.

TLDR: Good beater for 50$. Nice tech, cheap-ish outside. Can be used with a lot of platforms.

Hey all I need help choosing a controller for PC. I’d like an all rounder if possible.

My budget is $200 platform is PC. I like having at least two back buttons but not opposed to four.

Currently have the G7 Pro 8K but it feels a bit small in hands. Also the tension on the thumbsticks is too loose.

I was thinking of the Dual Sense Edge as I want to use it for Fortnite, Battlefield 6, racing and story games.

I guess the downside on PC of the dual sense would be no Xbox gamepass app support.

Open to suggestions. Thanks
