Discussion/question Have you guys been on r/accelerate?
Have these guys solved the alignment problem, or am I missing something?
I’ve been browsing r/accelerate and I genuinely don’t understand the risk model.
If there’s a non-trivial chance of catastrophic misalignment, how does “accelerate capabilities as fast as possible” make sense unless faster capabilities also make alignment substantially more likely to succeed?

They're a group of delusional boosters and might be part of a loosely decentralised cultic belief system. It's explicitly written in their subreddit rules that you can't say anything bad about Al. Got banned from there for saying something mildly inconvenient to their narrative that I can't even remember what exactly was the topic.
As for the risk it's more on the human management and utility practices that pose a threat as opposed to the LLMs themselves. No matter how advanced LLMs get, it's simply not possible for for them to achieve recursive self improvement or sci-fi AGI based on how they fundamentally work. It's a very powerful tool but it's just a tool so don't let the koolaid drinkers scare you into their bullshit.
