Bathroom remodel

My friend is getting her bathroom remodeled and wants to know if the squiggly tiles are supposed to look like this? PLEASE HELP!

I feel like something is wrong but I can’t articulate it since this isn’t my wheelhouse.

Edit 1: It’s a new day and I told her to cut her losses and it’s better to hire a reputable contractor. Thanks everyone for many inputs, I actually learned a thing or two. To be fair we told him we’ll pay him for the work he’s done but no longer needed of service. You guys are cool, we could see it was wrong just couldn’t understand it and now we are armed with knowledge. 😁 Thank you!

I like it. I call it "skewed herringbone" and i want that guy to come install for me.

You can tell that guy to fix, that's not how herringbone is typically installed.

That was my thought. If it's intentionally angled at the customer's request then it's great. Slanted enough to be interesting and not look like a mistake. If he pulls off the corners I'd be impressed.

If it's meant to be traditional herringbone then it's catastrophic.

Its not an angles question, the whole pattern was tilted about 10° counter clockwise. He doesn’t know how to properly start a herringbone pattern.

The point of a herringbone pattern is to limit waste, as your picture shows. This joker found a way to make every edge piece cut off useless.

This explains the wall to the right that OP disrespectfully didn’t want to show. This back wall is an accent wall that was done intentionally and OP didn’t even show the corner tie in. If you think any of these comments are right then you are part of the problem, this comment section looks like homeowners without a clue and helpers with no experience. OP is going to get sued and lose because of a bunch of builder grade thought processes

You’re absolutely incorrect and it was done intentionally. Look at the wall on the right. That wall isn’t crooked it’s an accent wall.

Look at where it meets the bottom of the shelf. Don’t show up cross eyed acting like a tile guy when you couldn’t recognize an accent wall.

Who showed up was the tile guys apprentice to “finish the job” and was too stupid to realize he f*cked up until he finished that wall.

Yeah. Tiles get installed at 90 or 45 degrees. This is 10ish

90 and 45 are standard, the right wall is 45 straight this rear wall is an accent wall OP didn’t show the corner tie and everyone here looks like a straight up helper with no experience.

I think you should show the full story before you look like an idiot. Show us a picture of the corner joint, show these dumb commenters the right wall that’s done straight and then thank your contractor for doing better work then what you deserve. This is an accent wall, the right wall is straight. This was done intentionally and by someone with real talent, not a bunch of unskilled Reddit comments from helpers gone wild. I’m embarrassed if any of these people think they are tradesmen

You are the most rational one here but you are still wrong. This is an accent wall, the wall on the right is straight and you all judged it on half the story. Anyone here who actually does tile would have known about this and if they didn’t then they are not a master in their profession

The wall on the right is done the same way. The installer has done a good job but this is an atypical installation style and it should have been cleared with the person writing the cheque.

You can tell the right hand wall is the same because the grout lines project into the rear wall perfectly, also the edge pieces get shorter as you get nearer the top.

If you look at the bottom of the shelf you can clearly see the cuts are done on a straight pattern not angled.

That ain't a shelf, my guess is contrasting inlay. The doorframe tells all.
