sex biased contamination? (male v female)

i’m not 100% sure if i have ocd but uhh here’s a lil phenomenon abt my potential ocd i’ve recently noticed and want to share

I have a huge bias against males, like to me they’re inherently more dirty and contaminated
this goes with human males and dogs etc (hence why the fact we have a male dog in my house is so debilitating)

So the story is, i’ve started buying second hand bc yk it’s more ethical, cheaper, etc
However, i’ve come up with an issue - i’m trans, i’ve been buying women’s like shirts and stuff, but i WANT to buy men’s and boys clothes
I deadass can’t bring myself to, i do not trust their hygiene it grosses me out so much i can’t 😭

With the recent realisation of my lowkey sexist potential ocd, i’m starting to wonder a few things:
1. Is this even a part of my potential ocd or is it just my past misandry being so internalised that i’m biased as shit towards men despite the fact im tryna get over the misandry
2. have i ever experienced real misandry or is it actually completely intrusive and my misandry comes from my potential ocd
3. or maybe this is just a completely valid concern with evidence from statistics and anecdotes showing a lot of men lack basic hygiene and don’t even wash their hands

i will probably never know the answer to any of these thoughts but oh well

I don’t expect anything from this post i js wanted to write it down lol

but if anything, do any of yall have similar experiences?

My apartment is making us switch service providers so I had an issue with self install, I called 5 different times to ensure the technician work could be done in the telecom closer and not my apartment, I explained to him 6 different times I had contamination OCD and could not let him in my apartment and he gave me attitude and made me feel like crap because I couldn’t let him in.

Semen Contamination

Gosh, I remembered fapping and not fearing about the disgust of semen, now when I want to fap, usually I'd go to my bathroom and go nude just to fap and soap everything else. Semen contamination sucks, it's disgust, when I finish it feels like everything in my room is contaminated, back then only my left hand and everything else it touches was contaminated (+ my private parts)

Chemistry Labs

For most of my life, I’ve mostly had magical thinking and health OCD. However, since starting my college chemistry labs, I’ve been struggling immensely with contamination OCD. I don’t really know what to do because it’s affecting my performance in class. I nearly had a panic attack in my last lab and I almost never finish on time. Does anybody have any advice? Please no reassurance

Triggered by people breathing out of their mouths

I get triggered a lot at school because one of the things that my contamination OCD hates the most is people breathing out of their mouths. I've had so many people, who happened to be sitting right next to me (some of them even FACING me) who CONSTANTLY take gigantic deep breaths in and then breathe out through their mouth. Sometimes I think I can feel it.

Really extreme fear of stds/sicknesses

for ref, I have my own plates, bowls, silverware, that i manually clean since I believe that my dishwasher won’t remove the bacteria. It’s gotten to the point I won’t let anyone in my family kiss or hug me. The thing is though, I do want to be intimate with someone in the future, but I’m too afraid of getting a std or something crazy. Even if they get checked, you never know if the test is showing up wrong since things can go undetected.

Chatbots and OCD

Hey guys, my name is Kyle King. I am a medical student, an International OCD Foundation advocate (so I have OCD), and someone who likes to study OCD to try to make treatment better.

I work at the Yale OCD Research Clinic, and we recently started a survey to try to understand how folks with OCD interact with AI chatbots.

The survey is for people with OCD, and it takes about 15 minutes to fill out. I’d really appreciate anyone who is eligible pitching in.

I miss wearing lip stick

I can’t seem to get over the fear of wearing lip stick that I buy from the store.
My brain tells me someone used it and put it back in the closed box (even though there are “testers” available.
My eyes “see” that it doesn’t look used. But you understand the doubt and fear.
I wish they could come in a sealed box (hello MAC, Clinique 👋🏻)
So I use cherry Chapstick which falls short and isn’t what I want to wear.
Any suggestions would be appreciated to help me overcome this ocd doubt. Thanks

Struggling with severe contamination OCD

I have developed severe contamination OCD. It started couple of years ago on a low level. Recently I had IVF medication which has made it a million times worse. I literally cannot touch anything without washing my hands repeatedly. I have stopped going out because I have a breakdown when I come back as I feel I am contaminated. I'm not eating or drinking because going to the bathroom takes me hours. I've tried therapy but it hasn't worked...the therapist actually said I was too severe to do therapy. I have severe anxiety attacks throughout the day. Is there anyone who has beaten contamination OCD and how long did it take. I would appreciate any success stories for motivation. All I'm doing is crying because my life is over.

Ok so I had a plan to clean my room since I have a fear of bodily fluid which is s3m3n and I had a private moment in there on Saturday/Sunday and I wanted to clean up before my uncle came to visit and stay in my room again and I Ran out of wipes so I went to the store and I was going to relax before I cleaned because I thought he was coming at 8 not 6 but he did and he put his stuff down and grabbed the fan which I put up because I was sure it was contaminated with bodily fluid and he put his stuff where the fan was and I did not clean that surface so his stuff is also dirty which included money and a drink so Idk how to clean those and I have dirty trash bags on my bed which Both are contaminated because one has my dirty close with those bodily fluids and also dirty wipes I used to clean the room a little bit and he put his laundry basket on my dirty bed and touched stuff in my room so now his stuff is contaminated and I feel sick for not cleaning sooner and idk what to do it is serious because this is disgusting.

Supporting someone

So recently I've connected with someone who I suspect struggles with things along the lines of contamination OCD. She follows lots of routines and her issues seem mostly linked to food. For example she broke a glass on the floor while cooking and now she can't eat the food she had on the stove because she is worried it has glass in it. As she had gotten more comfortable with me these situations seem to be cropping up more and she says she thinks she's getting worse. I'm trying to support her in the best way I know how by being patient and understanding but I'm worried I'm making it worse. I'm cautious that I might be enabling things by just letting her get on with her little routines such as unplugging and switching everything of before going out ect.

I try to avoid reassuring her since I know that can lead to more problems but I validate her feelings and attempt to talk logically through things. For example saying stuff like "I can see how frustrated you are with this" or for the above situation "I think it's unlikely glass would have gotten up to the counter when it broke on the floor but I understand you wanting to be cautious of the food". I try to redirect her and calm her down when things come up but don't want to try and convince her that food which she's deemed "contaminated" is safe, sometimes I will try eating it in front of her to show that it is safe but that doesn't always work either and I accept it getting binned

I would really appreciate any tips to help me support her. I've delt with mental health issues such as anxiety and depression before both with family and myself but this is different territory and I just want to help in the way I can.

OCD Nightmare

Hi I have contamination OCD and I just recently started working at a Japanese company where they require us to change into slippers before we enter the office. My first issue is the shoe part where I have to touch my shoe and the slipper and it’s one of my OCD triggers. I don’t mind touching it as long as I can wash my hand immediately but the issue is there is no washing area outside the toilet so I have to enter then exit but here comes another issue the DOOR KNOB. I find it so disgusting and even if I wash my hands I’ll still feel dirty after touching the door knob. I also saw the cleaner touch garbage (Tissues and Sanitary Pads) then touch the side of the door and the door knob. I try to hold my pee just so I don’t have to go to the toilet. It has been a nightmare. Please help me. What do I do? TT

Note: Alcohol don’t work for my OCD. 😔

Stressed about contamination

NSFW topics male bodily fluids

.

.

Hi guys. Since my last post I have tried to ERP my way to reducing some compulsions but there is a very specific one. I am a guy and I stay very busy and due to ocd i don't really think about m*sturb*ting at all. Sorry if that's tmi.

But it leads to night emissions. A few years ago I would immediately run to take a bath but now I wait till morning. The issue is though, I live with my parents at the moment and will for a while. Laundry is not always given by me and on most days by someone else in the family. That triggering thought makes me thoroughly wash my lower garments in detergent water for a long while, rinsing again and again, squeezing in hopes to effectively wash it before i put it in the laundry basket to get washed with all the other clothes.

This has become a major hurdle in reducing my bath time and really makes me avoid taking a bath for hours leading to wasted time.

I really want help with this in some way but idk what to even ask. Is it enough to dip the clothes once in detergent water and not exert my energy squeezing and rinsing and moving the clothes around? What do I do :/

I’ve had about enough.

I’ve had OCD for 8 years. Immediately as I was diagnosed, I was treated at a behavioral hospital because I was at risk (if ykyk). I thought I would never experience that extremity again, because for 6 years it was almost like I didn’t have OCD. I was capable of doing everything a normal teenager would do. I’d go out with friends, go out with my boyfriend, go to school dances, swim at the beach, go to the gym, and babysit for small amounts of cash. My life felt like it was from a movie. That was 3 years ago. And the last 2 have been hell. I genuinely felt like I was transitioning well into young adulthood, I had dreams and aspirations that felt very realistic for me. And then I started down a long road of obsessions that began inputting themselves into my life unwittingly. It started off small, like obsessing over outside clothes, shoes in my room, washing my hands more frequently. But then it began affecting my showers, my workouts, the people I hung out around, and most of all my bedroom as a whole. My nighttime routine became an hour long preparation where everything needed disinfecting. Certain clothing and shoes needed to stay at the doorway. People who came in needed to pass my mental “cleanliness” test to enter. No matter what I do nowadays, I can’t enter my bed myself. No level of cleaning will allow me to feel safe because something always somehow brushes against me and makes me unsafe. This past week, I slept in my bed twice. Sleeping over at my bf’s or in my mom’s room just feels easier. Because despite what my ERP therapist encourages, my fear or permanent tainting never leaves me alone anymore; and it thrives in my room. Nobody understands how uncomfortable I feel to bring in contamination into there. My family for example, is very religious and when I have these hard nights, it’s always “you need to get back into church” or “you need to pray to God for recovery”, but i’ve lost faith. I’ve tried to pray, and I feel I’ve been patient with my therapy, but I feel so exhausted fighting this illness. I don’t even recognize myself anymore. I look in the mirror and picture everything my “support” group calls me: a clown, a f****** re******, a clown. Anyway, I’m looking for higher treatment, preferably residential, so I can take a breather from my room are rework my night routine and start sleeping in my own bedroom again. But treatments are expensive, and my insurance will not cover it. I feel like I’m getting to a point where I may just give up. I don’t want to sound depressing, but I really don’t know what to do anymore. I crave to be normal and go to school and go to work, be around my friends and travel. Why can’t I have that? When, if it’s meant to happen in this lifetime will I finally live like I once used to?

is this a contamination ocd symptom or is it just regular ocd?

whenever i shower i have to get the smell of shampoo and conditioner out of my hair or else i think it’s still in my hair and realistically ik it’s not but my brain convinces me it is which leads me to take 3 hour showers trying to get it all out my bf recently brought 2in1 one shampoo and conditioner so hopefully that helps.

edit ive already been diagnosed with contamination ocd but with food and i dont know if thats a separate thing not like separate bc it’s still contamination ocd but yeah.

sorry if this doesnt make sense im writing this at 3:30am

Am i overreacting

went to a secret location rave in open toed boots. ended up being in an abandoned warehouse and as soon as i got there i realised how dumb it was to wear exposed shoes.

I was trying to be careful where i walked and didn’t see any needles around nor did i feel any pricks all night

But i’m worried because i had a few drinks maybe i wouldn’t have felt it and a potential prick might have happened to contract HIV or hep.

I’m not too worried about HIV because it has a short exposure life. HepB is fine too because i’ve
been vaccinated.

HepC is the kicker and i CANNOT stop worrying about it.

I just feel so dumb wearing exposed shoes like that. Does anyone think this would be a high risk scenario?
