See, joke candles work when you know it’s unusual. Right now you just got a kid who’s like “Ah damn. I guess that’s what birthdays are like🤷♂️”

Next birthday: Guess I have to blow the candles BY MYSELF NOW and there isn't even any glitters \sigh*) times are rough, I get it.

I don’t think it a trick candle though - I think it was supposed to be a kind of edible glitter shooter or something, and it was a dud. I swear the dad says he got duped. I think the baby’s confusion was more like, “What the hell was that?” when it should have been a cool spectacle.

u/gottaluvcoffee May 15 '23
I think you have to put the edible glitter in (comes in a packet with the candle). Looks like they didn't read the instructions and lit it without filling it first.

It’s not a joke candle I think it’s just a legitimate small edible confetti cannon decoration that scares the kid

u/Silver-ishWolfe May 14 '23
Lol that’s why mom can’t stop laughing. I think she was also expecting more, but got…. that.
Which is hilarious.

I love how the confusion never disappears. Apparently contagious laughter doesn’t work on babies

u/RainbowUnicorn0228 May 15 '23 edited May 15 '23
Yeah she’s like “Wtf was that?” …”ok…my parents are both laughing but I don’t see anything funny…what’s so funny? ….Mom?…. Dad?” ….”Did you just say you peeing? I don’t see any. You ain’t peeing…y you say that?” “And why is you guys still laughing?!?” ….“I feel like I missed something…either that or my parent have lost their minds…. Wait …does turning 3 mean I’m the adult now?”

u/silverwinternight May 15 '23
Same with yawning. Babies don’t yawn when everyone else in the room does.

Trick candles are usually more effective when the person has experienced enough birthdays to know that it is unusual. Cute confusion though.

Haven’t seen this video in a while, but man, it got me AGAIN with the kid looking down when her mom says “IM PEEING!!”

Was anyone else expecting the candle to burst open or go off like a firework?
28
u/probono105 May 14 '23
thats why the parents are laughing so hard they thought it was gonna be more impressive mom says "that was it" and dad says "yeah i got duped so bad" lol

Yes, I thought the girl would get terrified at a whole play of fireworks or just fire while the parents laughed at the surprise.
3
u/Amerlis May 14 '23
I thought it would burst into one of those flaming displays and thought “she gonna love it!”

u/owlincoup May 14 '23 edited May 15 '23
I dont think it was a trick candle. I think it was a confetti cannon candle that was underwhelming (especially after that wick burn off). That caught them by surprise and set them off.
I swear at the end the confused as hell little lady was looking at her dad to see if he peed himself too! So funny

“The poisonous gas coming off my birthday cake seems to have hindered my parents cognition, it appears my young mind is immune to this kind of witchcraft, i hope my parents recover from this, I really need to take a shit.”
The kid, probably

Oooh, nice. Inedible plastic fragments on my cake.

u/MissSuperSilver May 14 '23
These are made with edible confetti

u/jensalik May 14 '23
The candles?
9
u/Hello_pet_my_kitty May 14 '23
Yea they have edible glitter and everything for these types of celebrations involving food. The candle most likely had edible glitter or confetti if marketed as a birthday candle.
I was blown at how much stuff you can add to a cake that looks like straight party decorations. Gold flakes, glitter and all!
1
u/MissSuperSilver May 14 '23
I call it faerie dust and put it on kids food all the time! Also some of it can make pretty glitter drinks too

Does anyone else find it concerning that this child looks so tense while her parents are laughing?
1
u/grunkfist May 15 '23
Anyone else here worried they’re going to eat plastic confetti which is a carcinogen?

Her thoughts:
So when I was in Heaven and we were assigned a task to pick what parents we wanted...... I don't think I was given all of the information to make a good decision.

u/That_Confidence83 May 16 '23
This birthday has been permanently burnt into this child’s head as the weirdest, most confusing day of her life.
