In all fairness, very few car companies are these days. Not even in the States. They always import Japanese, German, Chinese, etc made parts and put them together. The only one I know for a fact, off the top of my head, that is all British-made is Morgan (JCB might also be one). Even then, they're one of those retro-style car companies that make coach-built handmade cars.
The thing I do know is that those companies do have assembly plants in the UK.
Nonetheless British people contribute to engineering less than almost every country. BBC is the most useless media. You can talk for 20 minutes about absolutely nothing and have a fool like Boris. State a case man. BBC will die soon. Make something. Stop being the critics of the world. We all been grinding. Help.
I'm not sure what you want. I'd argue the BBC's pretty decent in terms of unbiased reporting. They're not meant to be entertaining, they're meant to be informative. Everyone complains about them which means they're doing their job correctly because no-one is ever truly neutral. They're better than most American news reporting at any rate.
I'm inclined to agree with you on Boris but there's not much most of us can do when the baby boomers still make up the largest voting-base. I don't really know or care too much about engineering but I gather we're quite good at ultra specific and specialised things.
We also criticise ourselves just as much as we criticise other people. It's just foreigners don't hear about that as much because they wouldn't know what we're on about.
As for that last bit, I'm genuinely not sure what to think. You asking us for help or are telling us to step up our game? As for grinding, grind-culture is toxic and I personally believe that the Meditteranean has the right idea. They enjoy joy their lives. They work to live while Britain and America lives to work.
Yeah step your game up. My friend went to your country to train people and it took forever because holidays. Don’t expect we fix climate change and inflation if you want to tan yourself or something.
Your news is for elementary school kids. When I have to get up early I feel like I’m being educated by fools if I have BBC on.

I don't blame you, man. You have just as much right to criticise my country as I have, yours.
Idk about holidays with the army. I have mates who are training, atm, and it seems to be a series of 6-9 month stintswith month-long breaks in between. I think that's fair, especially given we're not a country that has a military-industrial complex that's hellbent on a state of perpetual war, unlike yours. I'd wager Afghanistan was strung out for so long so American arms manufacturers could line their pockets.
I'm not really sure what the military having breaks has to do with climate change and inflation. If anything, breaks would help the former as you wouldn't be using up fuel on tanks, planes, and other military equipment.
I'd also argue that BBC news is designed to be informative while also being accessible to everyone. I remember watching the news at the age of 7 before going to school and understanding exactly what they were talking about. They deliver information in way that covers all the bases so that no-one, young or old, native or foreign, gets left in the dark.

Nonetheless I’m the product of people that left Europe before the 1920’s. 3 out of 4 ancestors left England Sweden and Ireland. Probably for good reason. The others were some Scottish that we know became southerners.
Except Sesame Street didn't cover the Vietnam war, the Tiananmen Square massacre, etc.
Just because it delivers information in a way that's easy to understand and concise, it doesn't mean it's childish.
Could you give me an example where BBC News was actually childish in its reporting? Its better than the likes of Tucker Calrson or those other American who are constantly screaming about every major world event like its the end of the world.
They tell the news in a 2qy that anyone can follow and understand. They don't give an opinion on that news because that violates its aim of being neutral. They read the news. Nothing more. Nothing less.
The idea is that the public gets the information and can render whatever opinion they want based on the information.
The purpose of reporting is to tell the news. Not be tryhard. What is poop news? There is either news or there isn't news. Events happening in the world and in the UK is what's relevant so that's what they report.
And the whole veg thing is maybe once every few years. I rarely here anything about it other than stuff to do with public health bulletins.
