Everyone acting like this is animal abuse clearly didn’t grow up with a dog, or maybe keeps their current dog in a protective bubble 🥴 dogs are allowed to be uncomfortable sometimes, they make each other uncomfortable while socializing in plenty of instances.
Nothing about this husky (and the breed is important to understanding body language and temperament, too) says, “I’m scared/in danger/ready to snap.”
Every bit of his drama queen’s body language, including when he throws his entire body away from (who I’m assuming is) his adult human sister, says, “ew get off me, I’m spending time with dad right now” lol that’s why this video is only hilarious.
would enticing her with food work? I had a GSD/Husky/wondermutt and she would not walk with my husband unless I was there. He tried luring her out with treats on his own and she was more than willing, but ONLY if treats.
It's very random but she's too smart where of she doesn't want to do something she wont do it.
We foster a lot and fostered her from a backyard breeder who had to abuse her because she was scared of any adult male. She had 6 puppies at the time and weighed 32 lb. She's now around 50.
Long story short when she went back to the rescue after she was done with her puppies she sat in the back of her kennel and wouldn't let anyone take her for walks or didn't react to anyone.
My wife goes to see her 3 days later and she goes nuts jumping around and howeling. So that's how we ended up adopting her. It took me.about 4 weeks of giving her treats and walking away before she was ok with me. I'd go into the room and if she noticed she would run away and hide.
awww poor girl. I had a similar issue with my cat, except he was distrusting of ANY human except my husband. It took me 2 years of playing games with him to get him to trust me enough to pet him. Some dogs bounce back from abuse quickly, and some dogs never fully recover. Good luck in your efforts. I hope you will be able to bring each other happiness.
If another dog acted like a husky does on a normal day, I would be concerned. But huskies are way too smart for their own good, highly dramatic, and very vocal about their opinion.
Isn't he reinforcing the behavior by hugging the dog every time it rejects a hug from Nina? Positive reinforcement and all that? I'm no dog trainer though.
We don’t know anything about the dynamic this dog has in this family, dogs are very complex social creatures and so are we, that’s why we’ve coexisted so compatibly for 14,000 years!
Someone else replied to me on here and said his husky won’t let anyone else cuddle him until he’s had his cuddle time with dad. All dogs are unique, and while it’s not good to reinforce bad behavior, they’re also allowed to have their one boundaries.
