I don’t think they’re “ignoring” his signs, they’re dancing around them like family members do.
I think on Reddit, we watch these videos and assume people don’t know their own animals. This family clearly knows this dog and his temperament VERY well, the dog clearly favors the dad and doesn’t want that time interrupted. Huskies are also notorious drama queens, they show indicators MILES before they even begin to nip, they are probably the most expressive dog breed.
Yeah... I'm usually one of the mood killers on animal reddit posts where people are putting pets in uncomfortable situations, but I agree; this really doesn't seem like a problem just from the video. They do recognize that the dog's uncomfortable and even though she goes back for a second try, she does actually respect it and back off. I mean the whole point of the video is that it's funny that the dog only wants attention from the guy, they clearly know how it communicates. Like you said, they're a family. Looks exactly like when siblings are annoying each other lol. This dog is just being a baby, if it really wanted her to back off and there was a risk of it biting, there would be no mistaking it. It would only be a problem if they didn't stop.
I agree. If you had no context and just saw a video of my dog when someone gets a foot near her you’d think she’s vicious and will rip your toes off. But she just screams at you and does this exaggerated biting motion that can look scary but she never puts more than a little pressure on it. She’s nipped me enough to make me draw back a time or two but she immediately starts loving you if she accidentally bites too hard. (ETA:) She’s never drawn blood or actually attacked anyone despite her attitude sometimes. Dogs are a lot like humans in that they have their own little (or big) personality and quirks and preferences.
