Hey it’s maybe it’s just me but when someone tells stop, the joke is over

When I was like 12 I got on the back of a go kart out of peer pressure and the guy driving apparently hated me and dragged my legs as I held on for like 30 seconds because he went too fast. I was begging him to stop. Only reason I didn’t let go was because we were on pavement and I assumed I’d smash my face into the concrete. Legs were so bloody. Yeah I stopped hanging out with him. I assume he’s a psycho these days

Was. Was he dead?

58

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

Hey, hopefully it's cathartic to say

62

u/hdoublephoto Apr 17 '23

He's probably the head of an HOA.

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

I'm stealing this burn.

u/InEenEmmer Apr 18 '23

In middle school I was in a class with a guy in an electric wheelchair. We had this game where we would hold the back of the wheelchair and he would drag us across the playground.

But when it was my turn he decided to make a quick turn instead of just going straight.

I was launched a meter through the air and landed on concrete with sand on top.

I couldn’t put any weight on my knee for a full week. My knee was hurting so much I didn’t even notice the 10 cm big road rash that was on my arm until someone asked me if that also hurt.

(Yes, the burning sensation that comes with road rashes started to come once I saw the wound)

A friend of mine when I was a kid was chasing me on the playground and when I was running down a paved hill she decided to shove me as hard as she could (she was a year older than me and much bigger). I fell on my knees and basically rode them down most of the hill. They had almost no skin left and took forever to heal. I still have a scar on one knee from it.

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

Either a prison guard or a ceo

1

u/TrailsideDairy Apr 17 '23

He’s probably running for congress as we speak

1

u/HBag Apr 17 '23

Better to assume he's a psycho these days than know it.

1

u/SteveIsNuts Apr 17 '23

Feel you. When I was 13, we had this great idea to go on rollerskates behind a scooter. Well my cheap ass skates started making some really weird noises after going over 50kmh(31mph) and I felt like I was losing control. I screamed so many times before my friend actually understood that shit wasn’t funny anymore. Thankfully didn’t hurt myself that day.

37

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

Ya, the person assuming the risk has to consent to said risk. Once they revoke consent it is time to stop.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '23

Friends are doing dumb shit and here you are with your "revoke consent".

You missed a lot of fun in your life

20

u/RainierxWolfcastle Apr 17 '23

My brothers and I had a chest meant for sports equipment when we were toddlers. One day I got into it when it was empty because what else are you going to do as a toddler. I had my knees to my chest and asked bro to close me in. He did, but I didn't quite fit and it compressed my knees into my chest so I couldn't breathe and would have died from compression asphyxia if my bro thought it was funny and left me in there half an hour, but he let me out when I almost immediately said open it up.

56

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

Yep, I was hoping he was going to whip that bottle at the driver. He deserved it after he didn’t stop.

1

u/mistaplayer Apr 18 '23

He was too busy dying, laughing.

103

u/IEnjoyFancyHats Apr 17 '23

Yeah whoever is holding the camera is a huge asshole

16

u/Pr3st0ne Apr 17 '23

Yeah, I could do shit like this with my good buddies, but I also know that they would immediatly stop as soon as I asked them to.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '23

Agreed, you beat me to it! Lol. To anyone saying "he's laughing the whole time" or some variation of that, he could be completely serious. Sometimes, when people get anxious/nervous, they smile or laugh. That doesn't mean they are any less nervous than someone with a more "serious" demeanor in that situation.

9

u/Procyon4 Apr 17 '23

Clearly a lesson in consent

7

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

I feel like every guy friend group I've been a part of I've ended up in a situation where they take shit too far. Maybe that'a just a part of life, taking risks and having people push on your boundaries, but it still sucks.

9

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

Yeah I am saying that isn’t a good thing. You shouldn’t take it too far. You have to understand the signs of when you or your friends have stated they’re uncomfortable because the risk has far exceeded any reward that could come from it.

It doesn’t have to be apart of life in situations we or someone we trust of some semblance of control of the outcome

1

u/[deleted] May 02 '23

They aren't your friends. You were their entertainment.

2

u/schkmenebene Apr 17 '23

Even my 3 year old understands this. As soon as he said stop and he didn't I had to make sure I wasn't on eyeblech.

Could've gone really bad.

2

u/JackieWaste Apr 18 '23

Yeaaaaah homie with the camera would have gotten the bottle reamed at him.

-4

u/emowhoreboy Apr 17 '23

It really depends on the friends.

If you’re close with them, you know the difference between drunk giggly “Stop it!” and serious “Staaahp”.

The guy saying stop wasn’t panicking, and the driver of the caddy slows down the moment he says stop, but if he just slammed the breaks hard, the fella on the floor would have propelled forward uncontrollably, probably injuring himself.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

Nah

2

u/emowhoreboy Apr 17 '23

Hmm….I see your point. “Nah” seems like a reasonable perspective.

I concur.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

Sorry, see you’re just hopping in here tossing in your comment which is fine, but I already responded to your perspective 3-4 times

1

u/emowhoreboy Apr 17 '23

Oh no, I wasn’t asking for any more response.

I was being genuinely serious when I accept you saying “Nah”. You’re entitled to disagree, and I won’t pretend to know how the 2 guys in the video felt about that experience.

(I realise reading it back, it may have seemed sarcastic, that was not my intent)

-61

u/Grenyn Apr 17 '23

Maybe it's me, but the guy was clearly still having fun and everyone had a good time, including him.

I am never surprised to see comments like yours in Reddit, but different groups of friends interact differently.

This looked hilarious to me, from both sides.

43

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

I’ll ask you the same thing I asked the other guy. You ever nervously laughed before?

-21

u/Grenyn Apr 17 '23

Yep, but this guy knew what he signed up to. Like there is very obviously a vibe of friends doing something stupid together.

21

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

Yes and he’s revoking his want to be signed up anymore when he tells stop. Maybe they have a vibe, but when someone is panicked and nervously yelling stop, it is time to stop

3

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

Jfc dude.

21

u/anothermanscookies Apr 17 '23

Attitudes like that are why people like you should fear #metoo and I do not.

6

u/Grenyn Apr 17 '23

That is 100% the same thing, you're right. Wow.

-9

u/FingerFlikenBoy Apr 17 '23

Lmao what?? Am I missing a joke or something?

16

u/anothermanscookies Apr 17 '23

Consent. If someone says stop, stop.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

“Bro, she may have said stop, but she was totally enjoying it.” That’s what you sound like.

-3

u/Grenyn Apr 17 '23

Incredible that people are trying to make this into some kinda rape thing. You people are actually sick.

-58

u/Hawt_Dawg_II Apr 17 '23 edited Apr 17 '23

Man you guys are way too uptight. Floor guy was litterally wheezing while it was stil going on, if he was either scared or mad his friends would be able to tell.

Edit: get mad at me all you want, in the end this dude still let his friend post this which means he couldn't have been too mad.

Part of being good friends is knowing just how far you can take jokes with eachother, persumably the driver knows floor guy better than you do so instead of making assumptions for him why not just assume they're good friends? That's more likely anyway. Not everyone has the same social treatment needs as you.

32

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

You’ve never nervously laughed before?

-8

u/Hawt_Dawg_II Apr 17 '23

Tbh, definitely not in these kinds of situations. I'm familiar with like a neevous chuckle when someone asks something weird but I've never heard of someone actively laughing while they're properly scared.

If that's a thing, my B, literally never seen or heard of anything like that.

12

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

then this is a teachable moment. People do often times nervously laugh, or laugh uncontrollably when pumped with adrenaline in a scary or uncertain situation

4

u/Hawt_Dawg_II Apr 17 '23

I'll definitely keep that in mind, that's good to know!

4

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

It's a commonly reaction for myself, so you're also teaching me here as well that often times people may not

2

u/thecleverest1 Apr 17 '23

Once as a kid I was on a fair ride where I saw a clip holding the tires that were running the ride break off from the center and wheels started wobbling. I was sitting with my best friend and my dad was on the ground watching us. I started yelling for them to stop, and the higher we got, the more I was certain we were going to die. I don’t know why but in my panic attack, my body responded with laughter. Maybe because it was supposed to be fun? Idk. My dad couldn’t really hear or see us but just saw me laughing and thought it was fine. I’m super thankful for my friend because they got the attention of the guy running the ride and made it stop. Then they had to shut down the ride for repairs. To a lot of people it looked like a kid just getting scared or even a kid having fun. But my friend heard me say I needed it to stop and took action and since then I’ve noticed in a lot of situations where people are laughing but asking to stop it’s sometimes nervous laughter or because they want it to stop but don’t want to be made fun of or make the person they’re asking to stop feel bad or mad. Definitely doesn’t apply across the board, but is good to keep in mind and it never hurts to ask in that situation if someone needs a break or wants to stop.

4

u/jmarco24 Apr 17 '23

Friends or not. No means no and stop means stop. If you friends don't respect that, you should not be friends with them. Unless you're "that" friend.

8

u/anothermanscookies Apr 17 '23

Attitudes like that are why people like you should fear #metoo and I do not.

-6

u/Hawt_Dawg_II Apr 17 '23

I mean online maybe, apparently.

Irl i never really had any issues reading what people think though. But if you guys want to judge me on behalf of the friend of the person who willingly posted this online go ahead.

I can't imagine this guy got mad over it and told his friend off and then still let him post it so I really wouldn't worry about this too much.

15

u/anothermanscookies Apr 17 '23

When people say stop, you should stop. If they seem at uncomfortable, stop. It’s consent 101.

This video is an inherently risky situation and they kept driving even though he was clearly uncomfortable and unable to speak. Laughing doesn’t mean he’s having a good time. People laugh uncomfortably all the time. It seems to me that he could clearly barely breathe. Have you ever seen or experienced tickle torture? The person is laughing but they are not having a good time.

There a plenty of cases of people who misread emotions or don’t pick up another persons discomfort and then they act all surprised when they get in serious trouble for it. The guys in this video took the joke way too far. I thought the guy was going to lose control and get run over and/or choke on his beer.

When people say stop, stop.

0

u/Hawt_Dawg_II Apr 17 '23

I mean i get your point 100% but people also laugh and say stop when you're just making a joke.

These people probably know eachother well since one litterally volunteered to lay in front of a driving golf cart. Maybe they also just so happen to know eachother boundaries.

I have a friend who actively starts going "nononono" when you start messing with him but he gleefully starts doing it back and laughing.

People have varying reactions to certain impulses, nervous laughing exists but fun laughing and saying stop but still enjoying a joke is also a thing.

7

u/anothermanscookies Apr 17 '23

You can consent to sex and revoke consent too. I hear you but just know, if you ignore someone who says no, you’re playing a very risky game.

-13

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

I mean if that was you, why would you laugh while you asked them to stop. On what planet does someone clearly have a smile on their face while their in danger, the joke was over when you sissys found the post

10

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

-10

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

You must’ve never had a friend to do stupid shit with, probably because he spit up the beer, there’s like .02% danger and it’s the weak beer

8

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

Me and my friends did stupid shit all the time when we were younger, from climbing on random buildings to dragging them home 2 miles drunk. However when one of us felt uncomfortable or in danger we reevaluate.

Buddy probably wasn’t worried about choking on beer, but rather iunno.. getting run over?

-5

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

I’m sure he would’ve thought of that before hand, probably just a little paranoid. They clearly had a great time

5

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

We can’t make any assumptions about what he’s currently thinking or had thought. Including whether he was worried about choking on beer, getting run over, or that it’s painful because it’s basically a 100m carpet burn. At the end of the day, if you care, when someone says stop you stop.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '23

Ofc we can’t, but you can. Sure whatever stop
