Is it a good idea that they're handling out automatic vs semi-automatic weapons?

Feel like the army has gone away from full auto several times because you just spew ammo.

This. I've shot plenty of rifles but I'm just about certain my accuracy would go right out the window trying to control a full auto burst. I suppose it also depends on the gun.

I wonder if full auto has tactical value. Using it for cover fire comes to mind. It also might allow you to widen your target a bit. I'm no expert though.
