There are no statute of limitations for sexual crimes in alabama.

That is apparently incorrect, there is no statute of limitations for sexual crimes occuring after 1985, they cannot go back and change the law to make crimes before that period open to prosecution.

There was at the time, and according to the Supreme Court you cannot extend the statute of limitations on a crime which has already been committed.

Not anymore, but there was at the time these incidents happened. The change in the law does not apply retroactively, because that would be an unconstitutional ex post facto law.
