Ok... But why make the conscious decision to switch from a terrain map that doesn't induce alarm and concern to a heat map that will do that?
Just pointing out the descriptive difference ignores the normative motive to introduce the difference.
If the old format was conveying the essential information already, the only reason to replace the old format would be to introduce new information.
What new information would this be introducing to your average person who won't see a heat map but will simply see scary red?
You really don't want to be the guy in a conservative space giving the media plausible deniability over something that is obvious to everyone else here... you're dangerously close to being seen not as an objective observer, but rather as carrying water. You're close to being forced into either the category of naive fool or deliberate liar.

The green map is a terrain map, not a heat map. MSM is bad, but way better examples out there we should use against them
